Question for parents.........baby clothes and washing

  • Maybe since she has had a baby she is a bit ocd about keeping things clean
  • It surprises me that at 7 months old she's getting into such a mess really - just my opinion before everyone jumps on me, maybe my 2 just do neat and tidy poo's?

The few times anything has leaked it's never got onto clothes really, just the body vest. When that has happened I've cut the vest off and binned it, don't want to try and lift it off of their heads and risk getting poo on them. Yes I know it can be washed off but if its a choice of poo on you or not i'd rather not.

How come she's getting poo all over her clothes? Is she not changed regularly?

omg , i remember one of my little ones doing something very similar. i didn't know where to start. we had to cut baby grow and vest off and threw away  and baby had a wonderful bath . i to this day have no idea how baby got in such a mess, lol
  • I'd just mind my own business if she wants to be that stupid, her look out, but let her buy all the clothes herself instead of all you muggins who keep buying her more. But surely no-one is that dumb, she would at least have tried it herself surely, maybe she just wants to keep being given lots of nice new clothes for her new dress-up-dolly, sorry, baby, or as you say is too lazy to wash them.

  • Thanks for all the replies!

Yes she is a new Mum and she has been advised by a rather well off friend. Obviously her younger, childless sister knows nothing so its always 'well so and so says........'. Fair enough I suppose!
She is definately a mega clean freak but still, no reason to just throw stuff out but I sort of accepted what she said but I wasn't convinced. I will definately be buying some vanish and napisan for her.
Sadly our Mum isn't around to advise and she finds that quite difficult at the moment. She is somewhat reliant on the advice of friends and books and the Mums at all the baby groups.
She is still giving milk to baby but introducing baby rice or something like that and some fruit and veg. Baby did go through a bad tummy phase for a bit but not now. She is the perfect weight and a really happy baby.
I won't be wasting my money anymore though I can definately say that! Will add what I save to her little bank account! Thanks for the advice :)

Blimey that's just nuts!! Obviously if the top or whatever is totally ruined I would bin it, but I think on my two kids I have only had to do that maybe 3 or 4 times max. Even if a little staining still exists after a wash they can still be worn. Not as best but for mucking around the house, park etc. Plus often it really isn't noticeable unless the clothing is really light coloured.

A quick tip to those who have cut off and binned vests with poo on them. Rather than taking the vest off over their head, go the other way and no worries of getting it in their hair. It is really easy with the vests with envelope necks.

or better still get the vests that open right up the front.. they have them in tesco.. open up and lift off.. easy-peasy..

I have never once binned anything from any of my 9 children, apart from a pair of underpants DS3 had a major evil accident in.. they got flushed!... it is only poo and washes away easily.. I will have to possibly bleach all the white sleepsuits before they are worn or passed on though they are quite badly stained.. The only nappies that seemed to contain the explosions are boots own.

Maybe your sis needs to use better fitting nappies!

Thanks Pigpen, I wonder if maybe she was using the wrong size nappies? Pooh kind of squelched up her back when she was lying down, and had a tumy upset when introduced to solids. I have never changed a poo nappy, I have done one wee one. So far I have managed to avoid poo, thank goodness :p:D.

That is what my little one does.. Pampers explodes straight out the back and huggies comes out the legs and the back! Boots super dry ones are elasticated across the back and it holds it all in.. she needs to be changed immediately still but at least her clothes stay clean!I think her maximum is 7 full sets of clothes/sleepsuits in 1 24 hour period!
