Question for parents.........baby clothes and washing

Hello,
I wonder if anyone could advise me on this as I am unsure as to the answer.
My sister has a beautiful little baby girl and is now 7 months old. I know that babies don't need expensive clothes but as an Auntie, I couldn't resist all the lovely outfits. However, as a baby, she does, um, soil them and my sister just throws the oufit away . She says that there are fatty deposits in the poo and therefore they will be stained and not worth washing. Is this true or is she just being lazy? Apparently she was advised of this by a friend but I am not so sure. Not buying anymore expensive outfits now as only get worn a couple of times before being chucked . If this is the case, that 'normal' washing doesn't cut it, any tips on ways to get the clothes nice and clean again? Or is it true that they stain?

OMG, that's ridiculous.
Even if there's a little stain they can be worn again, I am in shock :eek:Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Combination of soaking as soon as stained then vanish and washing powder in wash - this gets most stains out except for orange carrot based baby food
Binning them is definitely not MSE!!!
How will she cope with potty training :rotfl:0 -
My washable nappies get poo stained as you can imagine, but a few hours on the washing line in the sun and hey presto the stains are gone!
The sun is a wonderful natural bleaching agent.0 -
Most stuff will come out on a normal wash and then hanging them in the sun to dry takes care of the rest. I use cloth nappies, and even after my son's impressive efforts, they still only have minimal stains, and that's only cos they've not been on the line recently, no sunny weather. In the next couple of weeks they will be sparkling white again :-)

She's either lazy or daft, does she also throw away her own clothes that might get stained with something that has fat in it? As everyone else comments a little soaking or hanging out in the sunshine will help minimize staining.. what a shame to throw away all those lovely outfits , I'd be livid if I'd bought them.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Throwing clothes away because it's not worth washing?! Is your sister loaded?!!
If I was buying my sister clothes for her baby and I had found out she was throwing them away because the stains *might* not come out I would be offended!
I agree with the other posters, sunshine works wonders on stainslet her in on that info, save everyone a fortune!

Good grief, if I'd done that when mine were babies I'd have been constantly throwing away clothes and buying new ones.
Never heard of anyone doing that before.0 -
There may be something behind this - are you sure she likes the outfits you're buying? I'm sure they're lovely but when littles ones are little you do get bought a lot that isn't all to the parents' taste, so she may be looking for an excuse as to why they're not being worn.
Is there a chance she's done the decent MSE thing and passed them on and is too embarrassed to tell you?Go your own way..

Load of rubbish!
Even really badly soiled things, I've pre-washed by hand and given them a good scrub to get the worst if it out, given them a spray of Shout stain spray and put them in the washer, and they come out fine. Here I go again on my own....0
