I do not get HRC and you can not get Carers allowance when working full time even if it were on minimum wage it would be above the threshold for Carers allowance. The car is for me to be able to get out as others do and so my partner can be with me more each day that is perfectly reasonable and many on Motability use a car for care and work when they are the main breadwinner.
Still a great many assumptions flying about but most are completely inacurate I can't be bothered to dissect such rants but that's a few of the main ones corrected anyway."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
I think the point is DLA is meant to provide according to need -if you qualify for higher mobility for a long enough period you get to CHOOSE how to use that money. You can choose to use that money to pay for a child minder to take the kids to and from school........or anything else you like as no-one checks OR you can use it for a mobility car . However if you get the car -surely you've chosen that option because to fufils "your" mobility needs as you percieve them. To feel entitled to more (which is different to just hoping for more) does the cause of supporting families with disabilities (no matter who in the family has them) does dis-service to all with disabilities by promoting" the disabled are all greedy and out to blag everything they can " attitude they we all have to deal with <sigh>
You've CHOSEN the car option -your choice -but don't expect sympathy when trying to get extra help that is not statutory -we all make choices in life-and need to deal with the consequences. If your LA/LEA will fund the transport-great-but if they won't it isn't an entitlementI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

You have no idea what financial difference motability will be able to make to us and frankly neither is it any of your business but surfice to say that as a young male driver my partners insurance is £200 a month on it's own. A disabled child on HRM would be entitled to travel to and from school and to HRM also. Go and have a go at all those parents for not putting their childs HRM towards to taxi's as you clearly have nothing constructive to add to this thread.
Your partner's insurance seems to have increased a lot since you posted in October last year, "If I am entitled to higher rate mobility after the rule change my partner will use it for work every day. He's 20 so driving costs us a fortune as insurance was £1.8k last year £1.3k this year"0 -

We struggle greatly to afford the car because of the ridiculous cost of insurance for a young male driver, £200 a month this year and we have had to sacrifice it in the past because of this.
I have explained that previously in the thread though."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

You still haven't explained how you will be able to get out more with a Motability car than you can with the car you have at present.0 -

So why is it double what you were paying in October?
You'll still be no less housebound though, will you - even with a Motability car?0 -

We paid for it up front with card as the intrest was cheaper on card than with their credit but that's not possible this year and we had a tiny knock (the dent in their bumper was the size of a coaster) but of course they claimed for whiplash as everybody does these days. The quote this year was £1.6k then £1.9 with paying monthly and this policy and the last one were both 10 month policies. The first year was a 12 month but as named driver on my Dads policy, it was about £4k otherwise."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

I've already answered both of those questions."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

Gosh fancy for claiming for everything-pot...kettle.
How do you know they didn't have whiplash -or are you just doing what you are accusing others on this thread of doing-Oh the irony !:rotfl:I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Everybody knows there's a huge problem with insurance fraud at the moment with whiplash in particular as they can not disprove it. Your attempt to insult is quite irrelevant."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0
