I too absolute adore IS dresses, but my favourite one seems to be a couple of years old now. I really want to buy one second-hand - I really can't afford new.
My favourite is Pompadour
I love the Babette style
Just seen the Flowerbomb for the first time - WOW!!
I'm not having a church wedding but really want an IS dress.:T0 -
May be worth keeping an eye on preloved in case a second hand one comes up in the right size near you!
I really don't think it matters whether you're having a church wedding or not, Ian Stuart dresses are amazing and so beautiful. The quality is something else, so if you love Babette then it's definitely worth trying to track one down
There are 4 Babettes on preloved at the mo, though they are all sizes 8-10. Ebay is worth a look as well- good luck

Hello again.
Does anyone have any idea of what the sizing is like on IS dresses.
I have found 'the' dress. The one I have always wanted, secondhand. But the person who has measured it says the bust is 'roughly 34 inches' - my bust is 36, and even though I want to lose some weight it's likely to stay a 36.
I just don't know whether there'd be room for alteration or to squeeze into it (but I don't want to be falling out of the bloomin thing tho)!0 -
Hi

What size is the dress? I have got a size 10 IS dress. I am a standard high street size 10 in places like Dorothy Perkins, Next, Coast, Debenhams etc. The IS dress is a perfect fit apart from being a bit big around the bust- I will have to get it taken in nearer the time. I'm a size 34 bust if that is any help.
Ideally you really need to try on this dress. If the second hand one is too far away, are you able to track one down in a local shop so you can see what the sizing is like?sickasachip13 wrote: »Hello again.

Ian Stuart dresses are size very much like the high street, none of this 'you'll need two sizes bigger' malarkey. You could get a dressmaker to turn it into a corset back too, giving you more leeway with sizing.0

Well, just as I decide to buy it I realise that the seller doesn't want to include teh bolero jacket with it - which will be impossible to match from elsewhere as it's an unusual colour and neckline
grrrrrrr!0 -
What dress are you having?
I did find IS dresses incredibly difficult to match accessories with!0 -
Hello laydeez so pleased I found this thread! Picked up my IS Violette on Friday, I am SO in love! Although I miss my bf when he's at work it is glorious when he's gone cos I can get my dress out!
Accessories is HARD. I really don't know what I'm going to do, I've ordered some shoes and am going to see if dying them and adding some sort of flower or something works... and maybe Accessorize for a bag? With jewellery, I can see myself buying a load, taking it home to try with the dress and then taking most of it back.

Your dress is absolutely stunning Robinred, it's such a gorgeous, gorgeous design!! Ooooh I'm so so excited for you :j
Did you get the bolero as well? Mine came with a bolero but I'm unsure whether or not I want to wear it, and if so when to take it off!
I haven't really looked at accessories yet, but I guess whether or not I wear the bolero will affect the shape and style of what necklaces look good! Congrats again
