Ebay fake silver jewellery - seller asking me to close case before she refunds

The seller may not be stupid - if the buyer now closes the case it is a far better outcome for the seller than refunding via the dispute.
EDIT: I am correct in thinking that if an unescalated case is now closed by the buyer it looks like the seller won the case and does not count against their seller performance and provides little evidence of wrong doing by the seller?
Hmm, that's what I thought too....steven_garner wrote: »Just to let you know that once a case is escalated the seller cant make a refund (its not possible as PayPal hold the payment and don’t give you an option to refund) they can however refund any time before the case is escalated (as the “Grant refund” button is available within resolution centre)
I know you don’t need to now but when I got a escalated IRN dispute opened on me (with no prior notification in my defence, and from a serial negger) I had to ring PayPal to refund them (so your seller could have done the same)
Also, i know cases can’t be re-opened but twice in the past i have accidently closed a case and phoned PayPal who have re-opened it for me without any issues
Thank you, I thought this was the case.... so it seems that the answer to my original question is that, YES, I have had two sellers in a row try it on with me/my dad.
I don't want to be dishonest and keep her 'paypal refund' as well as escalating the case to ebay but I am inclined to escalate the case (and refund her other paypal payment) just to let her sweat a bit...;)
I know ebay won't really give a stuff but I get really cross when ebayers lie and I am guessing from her quickfire responses to me on this that she now knows full well what she is selling and is anxious to close the case and get on with it regardless.
In any case I can't escalate the case for another few days so I will leave it open for now....
