WHAT A DAY!!!Customer service???

I had clothing to return to ASDA and SPORTS DIRECT today... 1st stop ASDA they refunded my black jeans but my grey trousers weren't on my receipt so they offered me a gift card..These trousers were only £6 but even so I asked to talk to management just to see if they would be nice and refund the £6...Along came the manager and accused me of taking the trousers from downstairs and coming upstairs to customer service to return them...I was gob smacked I actually asked him if he was accusing me of stealing as I really did think I had heard him wrong but his reply was IN ALL DUE RESPECT you could've!...

THEN off to SPORTS DIRECT receipt and trousers in hand only to be told they wouldn't refund only exchange or credit note...

Now I'm home feeling hard done to and £20 out of pocket along with my fuel and time going to these shops..

I have contacted ASDA customer service as I'm disgusted with my treatment today.

I don't mean to be harsh, but as it sounds as though these items were returned due to a change of mind rather than a fault, in which case they aren't obliged to offer you anything so you did quite well to get what you did.

I can see why Tesco's weren't keen to refund cash for the trousers, and from your post it sounds as though the manager could have just been explaining why they don't offer cash refunds without proof of purchase - he said that for all he knows you could have just picked them up in the shop by way of explanation and you feel as though he's accusing you of having done so, which is a fairly simple misunderstanding. Their policy is fairly clear regarding refunds (which I don't believe is even in their Ts and Cs to offer without proof of purchase) and it was you who pressed the issue by asking a manager to override that policy so could it be that he was just trying to explain why that wasn't possible?

As for Sports Direct, I'm guessing that's their policy as well - if you are the kind of shopper who prefers to take things home to try on and then return it's worth bearing in mind that if they do accept 'change of mind' returns then you will be bound by their Ts and Cs concerning that return.

Geees, to be fair how can you prove you hadn't just done what the Manager said?

Not sure Tescos would like to refund much of Asda's stuff!

True but checking CCTV is a pain if you have ever done it and just because it has come from George there is no evidence to say that you weren't trying it on, are you sure he wasn't just explaining that you could have been trying it on? (if he really thought you were thieving I doubt he would just be talking to you about it)

Honestly, don't let it get to you on something like ths.

Typical - I construct a well-reasoned and thoughtful answer and the only bit that gets quoted is the mistake!! :o:p

OP - I wasn't accusing you of being a serial returner, just saying that if you haven't tried something on in the shop, it's worth checking their returns policy before you buy.

I've just never taken anythin back before and now I know why...the asda 'stand in' manager was awful to me he was really saying I had taken them off a hanger and gone up the escalator with them...He changed his tune when I said I had the receipt for the black jeans and was just taking the grey trousers back too...they should get their facts right before opening their big mouths...

I feel the same way about customers who think they know their rights and blatantly do not.
    Gone ... or have I?
