Theres no shame in asking someone out maybe getting rejected its better than the shame of not trying at all
Good luck op should go for it"red sky at night angel delight, red sky in the morning...ANGEL DELIGHT!!0 -
I have asked a guy out for a friendly drink. We went out, it was a disaster, we didn't see each other again. I just wanted some balance on all these smug marrieds/married-to-be's
It was fun though, quite liberating, although the fear of rejection is huge! It does give you a bit more sympathy for blokes, and makes you less likely to be harsh in your future rejections of potential suitors....Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I'm a man. I'm confident enough when it comes to my professional life but with relationships I'm a coward.
It is perhaps therefore a blessing that my partner is a very strong willed and take charge kind of person who, after several meetings for coffee, trips to the cinema etc, informed me we'd been dating for a month and to "kiss [her] for [expletive deleted] sake".0 -
I've asked a guy out and been turned down. It was a bit embarassing as we still had loads of lectures together, but not the end of the world. It didn't put me off asking out my now-boyf and we've been together 10 years.0

No, I don't think that I could pluck up the courage I am afraid. I would probably do or say something stupid or embarrasing
. I would drop some hints or show interest but no, I wouldn't ask him out.

I gave a lad my phone number once on holiday (without him asking for it). He made me laugh a lot and we enjoyed taking the micky out of one another. I did it whilst I was a bit tipsy so that if he completely rejected me I could (childishly) say that I only did it because I was drunk.
Anyway he continued the banter via text, 6 months later we met up for a night out, 2 years later I moved 120 miles to live with him, got married 2 years after that in 2009 and are expecting our first baba in 7 weeks!
Go for it! What's the worst that can happen! xFinally decided to start growing up when it comes to money!:j

'Nice' guys who don't have the courage to say hello quickly discover their chances are not just halved. Half of zero is zero. Those who don't realise this kill themselves or go bug!!!!.
Either sit on your innocence and await a series of sleazy, cynical creeps or give a boy a break. But give them just ONE break. If they don't learn from that one reaching out they are beyond hope.0 -
Well I kind of was the one who approached my OH (although albeit online) but still the same principle I suppose - I wouldn't have normally but I took a fancy to him and figured I may as well go for it...We're still together 3 years down the line so Im glad I didMFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

Wow- thanks for all the replies! I have asked him via email ( bit complicated cos he`s my son`s mentor for a work course.) I have asked for the casual `going for a drink thing` but also said if he`s married/in a relationship then please ignore the email. Tbh he started it all off by sending me via my son a jar of hm chutney so we`ve exchanged emails all this week. I make cakes (for which I`m paid) at son`s work and so am known by everyone at his work. My friend reckons that he`s not mentioned anyone else at all and the emails have a lot of banter etc which was quite appealing..... I should add that he`s slightly younger than me by about 3 years.
I`ve psyched myself up for rejection and the worst thing that can happen is embarressment. Wont tell my son unless we do go out as he doesnt need to know. Fingers tightly crossed.........will let you know either way!0
