I used the Tesco Superfit nappies (don't recommend going any cheaper than that) I tried Boots, and other shop own, they just don't hold!
Wipes I bought from Aldi (the sensitive ones)

I would recommend reusable nappies, although as he grows he won't use as many. Flat nappies and prefolds are very cheap and all you need is a few good wraps and a cheap pail to put them in. Mother Ease wraps have about the best rating for being leak proof and you can find them cheap on ebay.

This store has some great sales on cloth nappies. I just ordered 12 birth to potty nappies and you don't need a wrap on them (you can use the wraps on other nappies too) along with 7 night matching boosters for 106 delivered. These still sell for £13 on all the other sites. Just checked the sale page and those are gone now but they do have some other great offers on nappies.
The most economical nappy is the all in one birth to potty and even more so if you plan on using them with another baby.
Also, check with your local council to see if they have a cash back offer. Our council offers £30 cash back.0 -

We have used Lidl own brand, Asda's own brand (little angels), pampers, huggies, sainsbury's own. They all did the trick and none of them really had leaks. Nowadays we tend to stick to asda's own, cause I find them a bit better than lidl in absorbency. (no red skin when left on a bit to long) When you get to size 4 the asda baby event (which is 4 times a year) has boxes of around 80 nappies for 5 pounds. However the normal price is a bit more.
With wipes we do use huggies wipes, but tend to keep our eye on the offers. Last time wilkonsons had them on offer for 87p per pack, so we about about 25 packs at the time. Asda is normally the cheapest with them at 4.5 pounds per 4. But they do work a lot better than asda's own brand, or even lidl. It is one of the things we do stick to branded. (can't stand pampers wipes or johnsons, so it needs to be huggies)0 -

Even if you're determined to use disposable nappies it can be useful to have a reusable wrap or two to hand for those explosive poos. Pop it over the paper nappy and then you've two layers for them to try to escape from- not many will make it throughThey call me Dr Worm... I've found any own brand nappies and wipes do the job just as well, no different to Pampers ime. I would much rather use value wipes than Huggies wipes( even though they are a bit thinner but for 18p a pack you can't complain) Huggies wipes have a really strange papery texture and tear really easily.0

I found Tescos own brand to be fine up until the point when bubs started crawling - then I started getting a few leaks and so switched to Pampers Baby Dry.0

Asda little angels were brilliant in newborn sizes- however, their baby dry version caused awful nappy rash for my LO. we have used pampers baby dry since she's been in size 3s and up. I also recommend Asdas fragrance free wipes, I've tried most and they seem to stay moist and last longer. I'm not a fan of johnsons wipes.First baby born 10/06/10:heartpuls 6lb 10z:heartpulsI love my little family0

i use tesco's and sainsburys nappies pampers or huggies if a good offer is on (sometimes works out about the same price) wipes i use any that are on offer or cotton wool and water when at home. if my 2 year old has an explosive poo and im at home i just put him in the bath rather than get through a load of wipes x(#80 save 12k in 2015) aim £10,000make £10 a day in 2015 £261/£4000emergency fund aim £100/£1000£1 a day for xmas 2015 £0/£365NSD feb 0/16feb GC £0/£1200
