Wanted: Virgin PAYG with camera
Hi,
My partner's 15 year old has suddenly decided that she'd like a new mobile phone with a camera. Her boyfriend is on Virgin, so that seems like a sensible option. We might be able to get hold of a sim card from a friend, so here's my question.
Any thoughts on the best phone for her, bearing in mind that she would like to spend a fortune, and we want to spend as little as possible.
Thanks

My daughter has also requested the same for her up and coming birthday.
If its a flip phone then the cheapest I have seen is the Virgin micro snapper a slightly better camera phone could be the Motorolla v220 (this is the one my daughter has asked for)again a flip phone. I think the micro snapper is around £80.00 the motorola is around £90.00.
You can see both phones on https://www.virginmobile.co.uk
If you click on the compare phones option you can get a better idea which is better.
I would like to know anybodys opinion on these phones, as I have no experience of either one, or if anyone has an idea of a better camera phone. Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.

It might be worth taking a look at Virgin reconditioned phones. Most of these phones are clearance or unwanted gifts and are in perfect condition. The motorolla v220 is £54.99 and comes with £5 free air-time.
Hope this helps.

As I have a simcard registered with Virgin I bought the Micro Snapper reconditioned at £39.99 as it doesn't come with a simcard
£10 more if you require a simcard with £5 credit.
Phone is very similar in size to the Samsung A800 flip phone which I already had. Wish I could tell you how good it is but I still haven't read the book and worked out how to use it yet.
However, I can say that Virgin customer service is second to none and even with the reconditioned phones you still have their 28 day return guarantee.0 -

mjenn,
I don't know anything about the microsnapper or the motorolla, but I bought a sharp gx20 from Argos last week, and I'm delighted with it.
This is a clearance line reduced from £249 to £74.98, so you may have to shop around to find one. The camera on it is as good as my digital camera.......and much better than the sagem myx/7 and soni ericsson k500i that my kids have. The only downside is that they have had to show me how to use it.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you Veronarona........it's been one of those weeks
The ring tone is certainly loud enough for me, and can be set to different tones/volumes.
I don't text much, so not a great deal of experience with this, but as far as I can tell (from the instructions and playing with the phone) there isn't predictive text and I can't find a dictionary.
As you may have noticed I'm a bit of a technophobe, so I could be wrong.

It looks like virgin have caught on.
I clicked onto the https://www.virginmobile.com/oneaccount and it goes straight to the Virginmobile web site. No mention of the 20% off etc.
Anybody else got this to work?
Having said that Virgin moble seam to have dropped a lot of their prices this week so worth checking out.
The Motorolla v220 is now £59.99 with sim and £10 credit or £49.99 with no sim but with £10 credit if your already a member.
The price could change though as some of them already have. Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.
