  • Thanks for that.
    I've just downloaded and run a full scan. No problems at all. Looks promising so far. It is certainly a much more comprehensive interface than MSE which it is replacing.
    Other than set up a scheduled daily quick scan, I've left everything at the default settings. Is there anything worth changing?

    Pop up and sound perhaps if you find them annoying.

    I'll have to see about the sound and pop ups. They could be annoying, but it's also nice to be reminded Avast is working. Sometimes MSE was too quiet and I felt the need to check it. Time will tell.

    That looks like a useful link, thanks.

  • Hi

    When I put my name and email in it says not available in this country. Is this only for USA residents or am I doing something wrong.

    Thanks

  • That tutorial is not entirely complete...there have been additions since the initial 5 beta (think that is what 5.0.337 or maybe first general release) though it is a good source of info, nice find. A few of the things described are slightly down to personal preference...

    Sounds...
    They are a little loud. In win 7 (maybe vista) shortly after avast has made a sound (update etc.) click on the sound icon in the tray, and then mixer. You can lower the sound...It was remembered after rebooting as well IIRC, suppose I would have to check again...
    I personally just turn off the voiceover ones, just have the shorter sound.

    I have a tutorial on how to change them to whatever you want, but avast also have some custom sound packs on the website:

    @richmond
    Never seen that error...
    What are you entering for the country?
