debster369 wrote:Yes they do record calls. It is possible to get a copy or a transcript of a call you have made but not sure how you would go about it.
You need to request it under the Data Protection Act, stating the time and date of the call.
I have had instances before (not with banks) where the conversation has not quite gone in their favour, the recording mysteriously disppears!!0 -
Yep, I think there's a form that needs to be filled out for it. Just can't remember if it's the customer or the bank that needs to fill it out.0

Start by reading Martin's article ....

Write and ask them for the information going back six years and I would suggest if you don't know the account number for the closed account that you include your date of birth with your name and address.0 -
I am in the process of claiming for two accounts with First Direct. Joint account £4614.00 and sole account £2972.50. I sent a LBA yesterday for joint and prelim for sole went on 28 November. I really just want to know if anyone else out there has made 2 such big claims with one bank? I am treating them separately but wonder whether FD will look at the total figure? I am really worried about the whole thing but am determined to get our money back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.0

Hi
I am v. new and been reading these posts with great interest.
I was a First Direct customer until last year when I closed my account - am I still able to claim back the horrendous charges I incurred whilst a customer?
Many thanks in advance

Yes, any accounts you've held within the last 6 years can be claimed from (whether they are still used or closed now).
Good luck, and welcome to MSE.
I'll move this over to the First Direct board. Keep an eye on that thread to see how others are getting on with that bank. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Just found out first direct have charged me £55 made up of two seperate charges one of £30 and one of £25 for going overdrawn. I am planning on trying to claim these back - has anyone had any experience of getting money back from first direct and the best way to go about it?0
-
There we go James, several users taking on First Direct.
If it is just a couple of recent charges you might like to try phoning and seeing what they say but if you think you have others in the past six years then best to start with step 1 in Martin's article0 -
all my statments were available online for the whole time I have been with the bank. I sent them an electronic message asking for 60% of my money back immidiatly with no attached terms to close the matter otherwise I would see them at court for the full cost plus interest. I also said I wanted this ammount within 14 days. They written back saying they cannot close this matter via electronic mail but they would be sending me the paperwork through the post, so it looks like they have gone for it. £600 in 14 days for writing 1 measley electroinic message. You have to be happy with that :beer:0
