I would say that your mum has a pretty healthy income. Would it be worth asking her to lower the amount you paid and doing some cooking etc for yourself?

yeah in a away with out calling her lol, it's £45 £50 a week which includeds food roof elecy gas etc, then I buy my own clothes etc and smellys lol but yeah now she says I should be paying another £50 a month.

Sounds like your issue isn't with the DWP but with your hard-nosed ma!

You earn approx £416 per month and your mum wants £250 - that's 60% of your takehome pay. She clearly doesn't think that the £50 per week you originally paid covers your share of the bills, including the impact on her benefits, hence trying to get another £10 or so out of you.

Do you think you could find lodgings including bills and food locally for approx £58 per week (if you calculate it by x12 the sum you pay her divided by the 52 weeks)? You could check the LHA Direct website and Turn2us website to see if you'd get any LHA or CT rebate for your low income if you lived somewhere else.

Child tax allowance and child benefit? Go through the Turn2us benefit calculator to get a full idea of the benefits she receives, plus your contribution, but be mindful if she has to pay anything over the SMI towards her mortgage, a top up, to her lender.
  • gonna ring council tax and ask why they have put me in the £180 a week price and not the lower rate, alos don't really want to live in a bed sit, I did say I might be able to pay half of the money she is asking extra for.
