You can't judge contrition based on a few posts on the internet.
And your ''getting away with it''.......again, take a look at yourselves....have you been and self-reported every law you've ever broken? If not, you've ''got away with'' plenty, haven't you?
I think you are just looking for a reaction.;)0 -

Think what you like, mate.
Let me just repeat.....people should take a look at themselves before coming over holier-than-thou about these things.0 -

Is 'speeded' a word?Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!

I have, but that's a law that the police tend to give warnings over or ignore completely (speed dependant of course). I've never gone FAR over the speed limit, because it's dangerous and illegal.
1 mph over or 90 mph over all still illegal. Speed alone doesn't make for dangerous driving.0 -

No but you can't be naive enough to think it's black and white. 1 mph over the speed limit is illegal but the police will happily let you drive past them at 71 (or 41, or 31 for that matter) without even twitching, try the same at double the limit and you'll be seeing flashing lights.
Same with this thread, there's no point MR item saying "we've all done illegal stuff" because most people on this thread I'm willing to bet have only done minor things that the police, if they saw you doing it would just say 'Oi stop that' or similar.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!

If i was a competent plumber who did some work on someone's gas supply, but wasn't gassafe registered, then I'd expect to be prosecuted for it. Even if I was competent.
Driving without a licence is the same thing. Prosecution.
(what if the thread was 'my OH did some work on our gas supply but wasn't regsistered and caused an explosion, will the building insurance cover it?')
And I can't believe she would be insured as there was no repsonsible person in the car with her. Surely a car is not deemed roadworthy (and therefore void insurance) without some intelligence behind the wheel? The woman clearly didn't have any!0 -

No, however, if I have done something wrong I take it on the chin and accept my fate. I don't try to weasel out of it, by seeking advice on how to prevent the other party from exercising their rights. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Unfortunately, that is not a requirment to pass the MOT. Shame though; it would get a lot of cars of the road. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
