    I meant this bit;

    " You MUST NOT cycle on a pavement. ";)

    It wasn't a pavement, pavements are found alongside roads.

    This is a dedicated path running from the road up to the swimming pool.

    I really don't know the rights and wrongs of it but I personally would have stopped as I know how unpredictable children can be.

    You know what a car park is?

    Well a bike park is the same thing for bicycles.

    The access path is most obviously for pedestrians. If you're going to use it on a bike and there are no signs to say you can't, you've got to be more careful than you were as if you hit anyone it's most likely to be regarded as your fault. Trying to go between them seems like a silly thing to do.

    So it's a footpath and you shouldn't have been riding on it.

    Try telling that to Mr. Plod.

    Footpath/pavement, same item.

    There's also a bike park at the bottom of the path. If they didn't intend people to cycle up the path they wouldn't have built the bike park at the top.

    Sounds to me like its a shared cycle/foot path. If it wasn't signposted as that, or a bridleway etc then you shouldn't have been cycling there. Otherwise just sounds like an accident.

    Can you send us a google streetview link?
