Doesn't Mazda have a pre-purchase 3 year/30k miles service plan available? I know many of the big companies are offering this. The costs of servicing etc wont be that bad if you save that £63/66 up each month x 6 months for first service(10k)you would've saved up £380/400 you're service shouldn't be anymore than £200 and you shouldn't need anything done, 2nd service should cost about the same, depending on driving you will start to have to check your tyres more frequently. £150 per tyre? my mate has an '05 plate Mondeo with 16" tyres and he's about £80 per tyre through Black Circles fitted, so you can shop around for these things.
My motoring club removed KwikFit from it's preferred partners after the Watchdog special on them, so enough said about them.
At the end of the day if you can pay sixty odd quid for a policy you should be able to save it up just as easily then if you do need something done, service, tyres etc, the money will be there for the work to be done.
Our Mazda is 18" wheels 225/45/18, so your reference about 05 mondeo tyres is useless. Also the car will be doing 20,000 miles a year so the 3years 30k plan is useless for us, also manufacturer service plans are a well knowen rip off so would not have gone near it anyway.
As for kwik fit yeah I hate them too, but its only for tyres then rest of the servicng and maintenance is done by main dealers. After going through the figures it seems a reasonable deal anyway so think I am going to go ahead assuming everything looks ok in the paperwork. Give me peace of mind knowing I got fixed costs every month instead of landing on a massive bill for a service, 2 tyres and brakes in another 40k miles an trying to find in the region of £600+.
Thanks for all your comments though.0 -
I would want to know what kind of tyres are included in the deal. You can buy ditchseekers in that size for less than £50.0

"Tyre replacement at 2mm with approved premium brand fitment, including valves and balancing."
I can only assume if it comes with bridgestone, they will replace with bridgestone, continental, michelin or something in the premium brand.
But good point and I will check on this before signing up aswell.0 -
£150 fitted doesn't sound bad actually. I'm guessing the tyre is the RE040 which is the one they put on the RX8 at that size. Good tyre, Subaru use them too. Wear very well from what i remember though. Also, If the miles are on the motorway you might find you don't actually need two sets as the wear rate could be fairly low given the type of driving done.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

This is the treatment the company I work for's lease cars get however they are fully maintaned by the leasing company I think, rather than a seperate plan.0
