Breakdown cover can be had for £37.50 a year from Auto Aid (and it probably has Mazda Assistance for the first year!)
  • Ahright £37.50 thats awsome, thank you very much.

Only caveat is you need to pay for breakdown costs and then relclaim - more of an insurance policy than the AA/RAC style cover.

Gets good reviews etc though, I'm currently with them (though my new car will have 12 months Kia roadside assistance :))
  • Ah thats not so great then, but no need to worry anyway, looking at it we do have Mazda Assistance anyway as you say so no need for that.

Doesn't Mazda have a pre-purchase 3 year/30k miles service plan available? I know many of the big companies are offering this. The costs of servicing etc wont be that bad if you save that £63/66 up each month x 6 months for first service(10k)you would've saved up £380/400 you're service shouldn't be anymore than £200 and you shouldn't need anything done, 2nd service should cost about the same, depending on driving you will start to have to check your tyres more frequently. £150 per tyre? my mate has an '05 plate Mondeo with 16" tyres and he's about £80 per tyre through Black Circles fitted, so you can shop around for these things.
My motoring club removed KwikFit from it's preferred partners after the Watchdog special on them, so enough said about them.
At the end of the day if you can pay sixty odd quid for a policy you should be able to save it up just as easily then if you do need something done, service, tyres etc, the money will be there for the work to be done.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

I have a Mazda6 diesel estate purchased new 18 months ago. I didn't bother with the pre paid service plan. Why pay up front for this stuff? So far we have done nearly 21k miles with no problems. The first service was £200. The original tyres still have plenty of life left in them.

Lots of dealer pre-paid service plans can be a rip off - one Kia salesman even told me he thought the plan they sold was extortionate! :rotfl:

Agree, but equally, some are a bargain - MINI 'tlc' is/was very cheap!

OP, I work for a fleet company with cars on maintenance packages and the costs seem about right.

Only you can decide if its worth the possibility that you might end up over-paying over 3 years or have the hassle of shopping round for service, tyres etc every time and having to find the money for it. If, as you say, you're not disciplined enough to save each month, then it might be a good option!

With those nice 18" wheels , you might find you go through more tyres than you expect, especially if you're paying yourself and are tempted by a cheaper option.

I think KIA UK offer a payment plan which is actually good value, but this dealer had made up it's own plan *rolleyes*

Not been offered anything like that from the dealer I've actually bought from though - they didn't offer me any extras AT ALL (VRI, etc) - quite shocked. Nor did they mention the 7 day free insurance from Kia Insurance......

Suppose if you pay peanuts you get monkeys.
