Speeding is never ever ok...especially by the old bill as they are at best average drivers..lost count at the amount of times they wreck cars but it's never reported..if it were the GEN PUB would go nuts.
Track days are great...and legal too.
If you really think you can drive or ride fast try it on a track...there's nothing coming the other way either.

This post shows that you know little about how well Police drivers can drive.

If you consider the number of 999 calls they attend, and put that aganst the number of accidents they have you will find that they are actually a lot better than you may think.

I think if you compare 999 calls to number of accidents then the LFB would probably be a little worse than the Met.

The LAS used to have a very good record when it comes to accidents, but this has gone wrong as they have taken on a load of young guns and drilled in to them 8 mins, 8 mins. Result, about 4 times as many accidents in the last two years.

Though it does come down to individuals to an extent, almost all Police drivers drive on blues, almost all Ambulance staff drive on blues, but only a very small number of Firebods drive on blues a they have a designated driver/pump man.

If you consider the more you do something the more likely you are to make an error then it is probably right that LFB have more crashes.

But some drivers go too fast, some are lucky sods.

When the emergency services crash it is never covered up, every incident must be investigated by Traffic, unless a low speed scuff type collision then details are exchanged in the case of the Ambulance service.

I take it you would rather they drove that bit slower the next time somebody is kicking the crap out of you!

Ever thought what they might be going to? We are all human, and all people misjudge things, and to be honest some of the people on the roads are plain dangerous, you should try driving round them at speed when they have no idea what to do, ever had somebody emergency stop in the right lane of an empty dual carraigeway at 60mph, due to the that they didn't know they should pull to the left and let the emergency vehicle through!

Really? Whilst I'm sure that is generally true especially for the Ambulance & Fire services, the Police have certainly been known to cover up accidents or blame them on others:

A couple of years ago my cousin had a head on collision with another car which resulted in his death (age 30) and the death of the other driver. When the police informed his parents of the accident they said that only the two vehicles were involved and that since there was no other apparant explanation for the crash, it was likely due to driver error on the part of my cousin.

My aunt & uncle were not happy with the explanation from the Police and several other aspects of their enquiry, so started doing some investigating for themselves. Freedom of information requests on the Fire & Ambulance services that attended the accident, revealed that a third vehicle was involved in the accident, yet the police report made no mention of this. Why? Turns out the third vehicle was an unmarked Police vehicle.

Unfortunately my family still haven't received a satisfactory explanation for the accident, though suspect that the police vehicle in some way caused or contributed to the accident. Despite being able to prove that the Police have been lying, they still won't admit what actually happened (now being persued through the courts). The final irony is that my Uncle actually works for the police force concerned (though in a civilian capacity).

So don't tell me the Police don't cover things up from time to time.

Another lengthy post full of generalisations. He works for the London Ambulance Service yet claims to know policy for every emergency service country wide.

No doubt he will respond with another 'your a knob' reply.

Did you ever get to the bottom of what type of unmarked vehicle it was? It sounds from your post as if there was some sort of pursuit the force in question has failed to recognise.

risk must always be reduced no matter what the cost!

Many of the speed kill lobby won't be satisfied until they reinstate the requirment to have someone walking in front of your car with a red flag.

That sounds risky - walking in front of a car !
  • Coppers or cameras about - speed limit.

No coppers or cameras about - as fast as is safe to do, which is often over the limit and often under.

It was apparently an Audi TT which is not your usual police vehicle.

I mean't for what purpose was it being used, rather than the model. Sounds like it could have been on test and therefore not fitted with full emegency equipment.
  • I don't know what it was being used for, but it hardly matters does it?

It won't bring your family member back no. But as you allege a cover up it may matter a great deal looking at the bigger picture.
