Wednesday 23rd Feb - What small DFW things have you done today?

  • Very new to the DFW board, but I've had a good day so far, so thought I'd write down what I've been up to :)

    - Checked online banking, checked credit card online
    - Cycled to work
    - Picked up free cinema ticket offer for Saturday night from Martin's weekly email
    - Signed up to Equifax free trial via Quidco, so £12 cashback for me! Credit report wasn't half as bad as I thought it was going to be :D
    - Phoned up Natwest to increase my arrangement with them from £60 a month to £80 a month,
    - Wrote down spending budget for next month.

I've also been dealing with the horrible, horrible Mackenzie Hall all of this week and last week. I followed some advice from these boards - sent of CCA request letter on Monday, as well as a 'don't call me' letter, now waiting to hear back from them! I've also told my parents about it and they've been brilliant (Mum's words: "We've had to borrow from our parents in the past!") - they instantly wanted to lend me the money to pay the debt off, but I've stuck to my guns - No CCA, No Pay!! I'm feeling so much better about it all now :D
  • you keep it as profit! its where most people make their profit from from what i can gather!

    Hello everyone,

A late post from me as I have been sooooo busy at work today, hope everyone is well.

I put my name forward for a temporary promotion at work today...I don't think I'll get it, but it can't hurt to try right? I don't think there's any extra money either, but it would be very valuable work experience for me which might enable me to move up in the world elsewhere.

    Today I have/will:-
    • Charge phone via PC since it's on anyway
    • [STRIKE]Food from stores[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Heating off during working day[/STRIKE]
    • Log calories on free app
    • Log expenditure on free app
    • Check ebay
    • [STRIKE]Post items that have been paid for [/STRIKE]- 1 cost less then I thought it would...should I refund the buyer £1.50 or keep as extra profit? They got a good deal anyway!
    • Check for surveys
    • Enter comps
    • Check online banking
    • Hang washing up to dry
    • Put £2 coin received at lunch into pot
    • Read Martin's email
Not so DFW thing I am going to put here just to remind myself...
    • Sort out a few games for my friend's hen do
Have a great, moneysaving day everyone x

:T I was the very same when I closed my virgin cc "but what if I ever need this £5k that I have no means to pay off?!" Then I went to lower my overdraft by £1k and they told me I had to make an appt to meet an adviser!! Took up my whole lunch break and felt like I was defending myself the whole time "but you know you won't necessarily be accepted for another overdraft again???" So frustrating.

... I'm just having a wee glass of vino tinto to help with the neverending clothes pile ;)

I know what are they like - finally got thru to someone who didn't cut me off after going thru all the motions - but the level of incompetence is shocking!!!!

after much searching I have found a basic crash course for Brazilian Portuguese. Its based in London (hopefully I can crash at a friends for the weekend - I live in the very southeast) and 2 x five hour days - this works out to be £10.50 an hour. (I think I need this before I can even begin to start to learn it. I think when I have done this I'll start to feel confident in talking with my oh to learn it & also his mum  but I have no confidence in my language abilities.

was thinking I could get them to suggest some good resources to use for independent study as well????

    Hey y'all

Sounds like most people have had a good day.
I've been in London today so have not quite hade an NSD, taxi's to and from station on expenses (to be claimed) and some little munchies for tonight and the train (naughty I know, but it's been a looooong day).

    Today I have:

-checked onepoll - balance is now £29
    -checked pigsback
    -all searches through quidco
-expenses from last month were paid today so paid most of them onto my halifax card
    -took lunch to work
-took a flask of coffee on the train
    -updated signature
    -meal from plan

That is all for today, am chilling out on the sofa for the evening, but do need to wash up.
