My wife needs an upgrade. She currently has (please don't laugh) K800i and only uses it for phone/texting. Also, of course she uses it to take pictures - a lot. K800i is just brilliant at taking photos but is now giving her other issues (freezing, battery life, etc - not surprising since it is a very old phone).

So, am looking for a phone with a good camera (with flash). She loves her Sony but perhaps I can persuade her to move to other makers if the price/phone is right. She just uses her phone to natter, text and take loads of pictures (almost uses it as a camera). She doesn't need any other fancy stuff like data download, android, etc.

So, can please please please recommended a decent phone with good camera (I presume a Sony phone will have a good camera). I suppose about £100 or so. I don't know much about these things but relying on you to recommend a good camera phone.

Thanks in advance.

I'd love to get another K800i. I wish I'd not got rid of mine. Other than my Nokia 6310i from the early 2000's, its been the best phone I've had in the last decade.

You can still buy them from Ebay for a reasonable cost (new from China last time I looked). I bought several k750's (my favourite!) that way in the last 12 months and except for a couple of hiccups they are fine (though having tested them I put them back in their boxes for storeage and future use when (eventually) my existing fleet expires! I was going to say that earlier but didn't realise you might actually be interested in a replacement k800i. I picked my k750's up for less than £50 each and they are new (though one supplier used substitute batteries - the others didn't). My existing fleet also includes 6 k800i's and a couple of w810i's. The k750i has a (very) slightly inferior camera but the battery life is much better (as is that of the w810i) and it's a less chunky phone. Like the k800i, it also uses the joystick - much aligned by some, but I've never had a problem with it and think it's great!

Can't fault my old K800i that our youngest now has.

Yes it only had a 3.2MP camera, but that was never obvious from the resultant pics. I'm guessing the Carl Zeiss lens (with proper optical zoom) plays a moderate part in that, and it is topped off quite nicely with a proper xenon flash as opposed to the LED rubbish we seem to see these days.

The "Walkman" side of the K800i is a bit limited in it's standard form (not really a surprise as Sony were aiming for it to be a camera first & foremost), however that is easily fixed by replacing the sound drivers with those from the W880.

He still gets 2 days from the battery (now 3 years old and still original), and I'm quite impressed with how tough it seems to be now it is in the hands of a walking accident zone.
Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.

Your post has tipped it for me. I'm so peeved with my Nokia 5800 I might just get another k800i. <pops off to Ebay...>

    Nope, it doesn't have that.

Thank you all but it seems everyone likes the K800i and not really recommending a new phone :0?

My wife's K800i is falling apart now and she would like a newer phone. I hated the joystick and it didn't work properly anyway. I suppose I could get her K800i from fleabay but ...

Wah! Out of interest, what do you do with all these phones? Don't tell me each phone has a dedicated number that you call and you can't be bothered to add new names to it. :p

I currently have eight contracts - so that's eight accounted for. I also have some free sims from various networks with credit on. I'd hate to never be able to get another k750i and I nearly always sell the phones which come with the contracts to increase my profit on the deal. Having different models and colours helps differentiate which contract number it is (e.g. Vodafone 1 etc, Orange 1 etc... and so on). A separate list of bundle dates and allowances and another listing my current numbers is quite easy once you get used to it. Also some people don't know who I am when I call on (to them) an unknown number and I can keep my main number (at any give time) free for incoming calls. Having two phones at any one time (at least) overcomes flat battery and (if on different networks) reception problems.

Well, ok - I just love the k750i!
