I now get my AA cover for £30 a year through my bank account. Worth doing if you can open yourself 2 of there current reward accounts coz they pay you each month for crediting more than a £1k in each although they do charge a £12.50 fee on one of the accounts they pay back £5 per month to each account so I get £10 per month back for crediting the £1k per month in each. Happy dayz
  • The AA's renewal process is terrible. I tried to cancel the policy after one month and they refused to refund any money at all because I had paid up front, however if I paid monthly they said they would have cancelled. Call centre was an absolute joke, couldn't get the same answer out of them twice. Eventually they refunded after two stroppy letters, wouldn't bother with them after this.

[Comment about breakdown cover - yes I know the thread is about Warranty cover but the others have discussed AA renewals so I figured I'd join in!]

My AA renewal (homestart & relay included) was quoted at £166. I phoned to cancel renewal and he offered me the same at just over £80, so half the price in the letter. Still wasn't cheap enough though - the AA are doing the package for £99 on their website, and I've got over £40 cashback through TCB.

The AA keep trying to charge me £105 at renewal, they have dropped it on negotiation the past three years, just renewed for £68.50 for Homestart and Relay, tied to specific car.

If you work for the civil service, or any organisation with its roots in the civil service (eg Post office workers, BT, Cable & Wireless, and many other nationalised or ex-nationalised industies) then you can join the Civil Service Motoring Association (CSMA).

Many benefits, including discounted breakdown cover (Britannia Rescue - recommended by Which) and free Legal cover (£100,000).

    More details and incentives here.

Hi. Apart from the AA's Breakdown Repair Cover where they pay £500 towards the cost of repairs, does anyone know if any of the other providers do this service, e.g. RAC or Green Flag?

If not, would the AA let me continue with just the Breakdown Repair Cover if I was just to cancel the Breakdown only element?

CSMA's (if you qualify - see above) car warranty is similar but more extensive than AA.

AA repair is only for certain parts, following a breakdown attended by the AA (it's a breakdown service add-on). The CSMA scheme costs more but is a full warranty for all mechanical/electrical repairs.

I've never used it so cannot comment 1st hand.
