Hi,
My main dealer warranty is about to run out :-(
Has anyone used the above service and was it any good?
Cheers.

Presumably you have quite a new car (?). If so, get a quote from Green Flag.
AA and RAC have standard prices for each package. Green Flag are insurance-based and quote for your car (make, model, age), based on likelihood of breakdown.
I pay about £100 for Green Flag cover (includes homestart and recovery to anywhere in the country that I choose). My mum has a three year old Mazda2 that is just coming out of main dealer warranty. She got the same cover as me from Green Flag for £52! Meanwhile, the RAC was going to cost £110 (website price) or Mazda offered her a special deal at £89.
I've called Green Flag out three times since I've been with them and they've always been decent.0 -
Hi, not sure if this will make you think twice about the AA but beware come renewal time. I just had a letter through from them, telling me about renewing my breakdown cover. It had doubled in price! Yet nowhere on the 5 pieces of paper in the letter is there a mention of how to cancel. So I phoned up and there is an automated message telling you to press 1 for breakdowns etc. up to 5. So when pressing 4 for cancellations another automated message tells me that they are so busy with breakdowns that they cant answer my call and the phone cuts off. So I tried unsuccessfully about 5 times over 1 hour with the same thing happening every time. Then I decided to press a different number, 3 for renewing membership and to my amazement I was connected immediately. Told the person I had been quoted double and he told me that they have had a glitch in their letters and a lot of people have been quoted double this week. He then offered to renew for the same price as last year. But I still cancelled as I told him I went through the same process last year but believed them then!! Not happy that such a big company in my opinion resort to such low tricks. Will try one of the others this year. Rant over and glad to get this off my chest as it has really annoyed me this afternoon!
Anyone else had this issue aswell?

AA and RAC often advertise in Saturdays newspapers, if you dont want homestart they are advertising at £39 and give you a £20 Boots voucher.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
i got a really good deal through the RAC with 60 quid cashback on quidco. AA also doubled mine as above poster said !!!0

Hi,
Sorry I meant their repair cost cover - not the base breakdown cover!
I tend to be swopping between RAC and AA each year when they are uncompetitive and yes quidco is brilliant for both!
If I cannot contact a company to cancel, I just cancel the DD - they soon contact me ;-) lol...
So what does anyone think of the repair costs cover, my car will be over 100,000 miles so most warranties etc would not touch!0 -
Funny, I'm just off the phone to AA, my renewal from 1st March has nearly doubled & I haven't needed their services at all in the last 12 months. I had the same problems with their telephone system ... if you press option 4 to cancel it simply cuts you off.
Finally got through, the guy didn't seem interested at all in keeping me as a customer, totally disinterested would be the best way to describe him. He did mention terrible admin problems right now ... but didn't offer any reduction in the price.
So I've given up my AA membership & will shop around next week.I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0 -
Oddly enough, we keep getting the same message. Maybe deb from the AA could answer this as well if she comes back again.0

DO you have a Tesco vouchers? They [used to] do a good deal with RAC....No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0

Similar probs with AA today, double last years price and '4' cut me off. The woman on '3' told me she could bring it down by £16! I declined, having done searches over the past 3 days and found it cheaper than last year on more than one site.0

just been trying the aa and getting cut off too
my renual is £112 and a quote on line for green flag is £60, last yr i rang aa and they matched it so i will press 3 this time and see0
