I originally remortgaged with the HX i March 2003, I then did a product transfer in 2006. I have been on the SVR since February 2009. Can anyone help, wil I be eligable for the little windfalll they are going on about. It oesn't say anywhere about people that did product transfers
Hi, I rang them about this as I'm in the same position: no mortgage offer, but have a Product Transfer Offer that put me on to the 'offending' t&c. Didn't really get a yes or no but an answer that insinuated that all mortgages would be reviewed and as it was the confusing terms that caused this then it may be the case that my mortgage would be considered for a goodwill payment. I didn't really feel any more confident after I had spoken to them. I rang just after the announcement ....they may have a clearer view now of what they are doing so why don't you give them a call and see what they say. The number is on the official announcement on their website0 -
Will this affect me? I took my mortgage out Jan 2007 and we are still on svr with Halifax.. Were on interest only though... Thank you..0

If they pay these goodwill ammounts to our mortgage accounts, how does that effect our mortgages?
Lower monthly payment? Shorter term? No payments for x months?0 -
Just wondering if anyone has received their letter yet?0

Are letters being sent today or are some people receiving them today? I'm at my friend's house and she's just got a letter from Halifax. I've obviously not opened it but we both fall into the "goodwill payment" category...
Very excited!!0 -
Steam it open. Do it. Do it! :rotfl:
But seriously - could people please post when they do get their letters and let us know circumstances / outcome
I'm particulary interested in whether Product Transfer Offers are eligible (ie I was on a Halifax Mortgage and then transferred to another Halifax Mortgage which was then on the 'offending' T&C). Their statement says that Mortgage Offers are eligible so not sure how stringently they are going to apply their own 'rules'
Am working from home - no post for me. But I did get something from them yesterday - another offer of a loan - straight in the bin0 -
I opened it (with permission of course!!) Ha ha...it was garbage - "This is what we do with your personal info now we're part of Lloyds". Rubbish!!
I will be posting as soon as I get a letter!
If you don't hear anything, you could always ask them for a copy of your Product Transfer Offer. I would assume if it contained the same clause about the 2% cap, you'd still get the compensation.
Fingers crossed for you! x0 -
Thanks Ivm - I've got the paperwork that talks about the cap, am just feeling 'this is too good to be true' and when I rang them they naturally wouldn't commit to saying 'yes, you're eligible'. So.....back to waiting.0

Just received my letter and I have had £250.00 credited to my mortgage account I have spoken to the call centre and apparently the only offers are £250.00 and my last further advance was 12/9/2007 so it fell within the old t & c. What a let down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although they will credit the payment to an account of your choice instead. If anybody questions Halifax and has a better financial outcome please let me know.0
