So if I'm correctly guessing halifax have to send a letter explaining why my SVR cap is going up first. Then they have yet to write again in April to say how much compensation we are gonna get paid and what they are going to do with it.
Thats a lot of letter writing and receiving ontop of all the Halifax stuff you get through the door anyway! How much extra on the compensation is that gonna cost Lloyds/shareholders? Ouch.0 -
I have read the artical but just looking for clarification:
1/ We started 5 yr fixed with halifax in Sept 2005 - reverted to SVR in Sept 2010. Do we qualify?
There is alot of talk about the exit fees too - we had a huge exit fee and could not afford to change from the fixed. No one expected the rates to drop soooo much - we were trapped!Saying Thank You doesn't cost anything :beer:0 -

I think so. Since september 2010 until april 2011 when you were on the SVR.0 -
Good morning all...
My dates fit into this situation perfectly ....£213k Mortgage Jan 07 fixed and ended Dec 08 been on SVR ever since...:j:beer:
I decided to call the Mortgage Helpdesk and asked the qusetion "im a current customer and fall into the dates, is it the case that overpayments will only be refunded to closed accounts? otherwise the goodwill compensation will be applied to the mortgage loan or pay off arrears" he said "yes Halifax will not be producing cheques for goodwill payments where we the customer has overpaid and is still with Halifax".
I said "so if i changed my mortgage now and closed my account with you I would be offered a cheque" and the answer is of course yes.... provided I full into the dates of the mortgage offer...:cool:Never make assumptions always ask questions>>>>>;)0 -
Looks like we will also benefit from this; have checked the dates and the terms in our agreement and they both match.
Is anyone able to guestimate how much we may be due back? It would have been payments from July 09 to present at the SVR, mortgage of £132,000 (from memory), payments were £614.44 a month.
Or can anyone tell me how I might work it out roughly.
Thank you!0 -

Thank you!
Amount x 1% x months on SVR for the period in question / 120 -

Would this be applicable to me? I had a fixed rate mortgage with Halifax which I took out in March or April 2006. I then remortgaged when the fixed rate ended, which was around March/April 2009. The dates match, but would it be a problem if I never went onto the Halifax SVR due to remortgaging? I then changed to a Santander mortgage but sold my house to rent in Aug 2009 and no longer hold a mortgage with anyone. I don't have a Halifax account but my son has a savings account with them.
If this applies to me, what should I do next?0 -
have just dug out my mortgage summary.
we have a two part mortgage.
65k which was on fixed rate until oct 2010
43k which went to svr in august 2008
am i right in thinking we have made 19 payments on the smaller mortgage at SVR so should be entitled to 1% on this.
and have made 5 payments at svr on the 65k so
so looking at over a grand?
dont wanna count my chickens
the date is 17th May 2007 but one part of the mortgage has been going longer0 -
Gonna have to wait for the good people at Halifax to contact you "proactively".
Might be like waiting for the Premium Bonds or those bods at Camelot.I am a Mortgage AdvisorYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Advisor, so you need to take my word for it.
