The San Francisco will come on Orange's pay as you go Dolphin tariffs. With £10 top up on pay as you go, you get 300 free texts, access to the popular Orange Wednesdays offer and 'free Internet'. That's rather misleading as Orange caps this at a pathetic 100MB a month, which if you're going to use Android's full Web browsing capability will vanish in a few days.

wonder if this is going to limit my use if need phone for skype and facebook. anyone? i am a novice at this smart technology thing. also heard a new iphone 5 coming out. any info on this too?thanks for any help.

100MB is a pitiful amount to be honest.

I have a 500MB fair use policy with mine and have not hit that yet in a month but regularly us between 250 and 350MB.

I don't stream stuff, but do access a lot of web pages, email skype etc.

I tend to do most of my internet useage over wi-fi
Some iphone info here for you http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/

Unlock codes are freely available for this phone so you can buy the phone with no commitment and then move to another network.

The only downside in doing this is that the phone has lots of customised Orange software on. You can quite easily get rid of this (well hide it) - either my installing a new launcher from the market place or by flashing new software (a bit like installing Windows 7 on a laptop that came with Windows XP).

If you aren't very tech savvy don't worry. There is also a large community of users on the Modaco forums for this phone and lots of simple guides how to do this.

Bear in mind that flashing new software will affect your warrantly.

Yes they are, they run the same operating system as the San Francisco (Android), so the app runs on all 3.

The iPhone 5 is likely to be well at the other end of the market from the San Francisco. 5 San Franciscos to 1 iPhone 5 wouldn't be unrealistic.

100MB is not a lot, Facebook doesn't use a lot and I would only use Skype on Wi-Fi as it is against some networks policy to use VOIP and they block it. For me a couple of times I gave it a go it works initially then sounds like jibberish after 5 seconds. Over Wi-Fi no issues.

The San Francisco is very easy to unlock to another network, put another sim card in, get a code really easily on the web, punch in code and job is done. As long as the Orange apps stuff doesn't bother you, then I wouldn't worry about it.

I typically use less than 100Mb a month despite a 2Gb allowance on Three. This is mainly because I download podcasts etc over wifi at home.

In contrast I've used 5Gb of traffic over the last 4 days on my home broadband!

yep the main problem you will find with orange is that they do not allow any VoIP over their network so you will be restricted to only using it on wifi.

the only networks that allow you to use VoIP (such as skype) on their network are 3 and vodafone, all the others may/will block you.

But does not affect your statutory rights under the SOGA.

And you can flash back to the stock Orange firmware with ease, and no-one will ever be any the wiser.

I don't believe GiffGaff put any restrictions on your use (as long as you aren't tethering) and they piggyback off the O2 network. At £10 a month for a bundle including unlimited internet its miles better than Orange's measly 100Mb. Orange need to wake up and smell the coffee (or people need to leave them so they reconsider their policy).
