The problem is mostly waste...I start work at 3 so have meals prepared for the kids so that they can just reheat when they are hungry. 9 times out of 10 what ive cooked is still sat on the side and they have made themselves something totally different! I work 5 shifts 1 week and 2 shifts the next so its a huge issue. Think I may just buy a large chain and padlock the freezer!
so the good news is that the teens are motivated enough by hunger to cook!
I work lunchtimes and would stare into the freezer at 4pm and hope to find inspiration.....
so now I am menu planning and it is working quite well!:D
I involve the kids in the decisions - esp the really faddy one (the youngest) - and she now knows what she's having at teatime every day and is happy about it!
my freezer is virtually full so yesterday I did a big inventory. This next week we are having an eating out of the freezer week! This is after we've had a joint of lamb and the resulting leftover meal that always ensues.
Sunday - lamb
Monday - hash
So Tuesday is fish (apart from DD2 who is eating up a portion of chicken curry and stray naan )
Wednesday is random chicken breasts in fajita seasoning served with jackets and salad.
Thursday is chicken stir fry (DS willl be at work, he hates stir fry but will have the whoopsied steak that is in the freezer)
and Friday will be homemade pizza - have bread flour and yeast - toppings will be whatever needs eating up out of the fridge/freezer.
Meals Wed - Sat have to work around DS's shifts.....
I'm about a month in but can see the benefits already - esp as I am doing slimming world, so everything is either OK by the plan or I can adapt my part of it!
so I would say get the teens involved - they may surprise you!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
I've done floors, bathroom, washing and drying and hung tons of clothes up:j:j
Off out 4t at 4.30pm then to watch rugby and the Lancashire Hotpots:beer::j"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

pigpen Hope you are OK. (((hugs))) Who are you supporting on Rugby?
Be proud. Since I've started flying my house is soooo much better, and I'm sooooo much more motivated to keep it so - to the extent that 2 days b4 returning home I'm already planning my flying:rotfl:GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500
