I've done this a few times now and it baffles me how some things aren't price checked like seedless grapes, a 4 pack of pot noodles, things that i know both stores sell. definately a con as they know asda are cheaper.0

I've just placed an order using the price checker. Also checked all items individually on both Tesco and Asda.
I should receive a £65.90 shop which would only cost £41.00 at Asda. So DTD of £24.90 gives £49.80 meaning my shopping will only cost £16.10 if they honour it.0 -

But from now until you get your order the prices can change (probably will) so you will only get a voucher if the price is less on the day of receiving your items.0 -
How do you check in advance whether things are cheaper at Asda.0

could you find out on mysupermarket?
e.g. using the bombay sapphire as an example. at tesco it's priced at £24.47, but ASDA have it at £17. buy it at tesco and you should get DTD - £14.94. so the item, when you factor in the DTD, would cost you under £10 if you bought it from tesco.

alternatively, we could use this thread to highlight any good bargains with potential DTD from tesco's price guarantee!:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

There are lots of discrepancies between the prices on asda.com, tesco.com/whatsinstore/pricecheck, and mysupermarket.co.uk. Sometimes just different pack sizes, or scents (eg fairy liquid range). It's a bit hit and miss as far as I can see, but I hope it works! I'm not convinced it's possible to save enough buying branded ranges to equal the savings on buying value or own brands, and I'm not sure about spending more this week just to get a coupon for next week. I'll have a go tomorrow and see how the maths look. It's not likely to make up for having spent so much of the afternoon checking and recording prices of every item on the week's shopping list! Sunday outing to Tesco, ho hum...0

Hi
Long-term site fan here but I have had to re-register due to IT problems
I am a bit worried about the maths, having seen many people miscalculate Boots items in the past and double account for sums, think they are getting things free and wonder where their rmoney is going
I work it out that I need to deduct the price difference from the Asda price to find the true price the item will cost me
That means that when (if?) I get my voucher only half of it is profit, as I have already spent half of it getting the item
Eg Pay £2.75 in Tesco
Asda price is £2
Refund is £1.50, 75p of which is refunding my "overcharge", remaining 75p is profit
Makes item (Asda Price) £2 minus 75p = £1.25
or Tesco price £2.75 minus whole refund of £1.50 = £1.25
I could easily get this wrong and deduct whole £1.50 from £2 and think it only cost me 50pYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

This is the correct one.
