purchasing a mobile contract via quidco

Options
any insight greatly appreciated............

my contract with 02 has recently come to an end, so have moved over to a simplicity sim and blackberry bolt on
i am after an upgraded phone- blackbeery torch

these phones are now free on a 24month contract

if i purchase phone via quidco, i assume i get £90 cashback as it is a 2 yr deal?

i just spoke to 02 and they advised me that i would have to get a pac code as i technically would be leaving them and going to a third party, even though the supplier would remaint he same (02)

they did advise me that if anything were to go wrong with the phone, they would be unable to help, i would have to take it up with quidco

has anybody puchased a mobile deal through quidco and is this the case?

This is nonsense. They meant the cashback, not the headset.

As long as it's the best deal you can get, whether you can cashback or not won't matter too much. I never received my Quidco cashback for a 3 mobile contract.
  • according to them- quidco are responsible for my "phone" and cashback, o2 just provide service and billing

just wondering if i would have any recourse if such a thing the mobile did break

Either they were talking rubbish or you have misunderstood them. They sell you the phone (not quidco) and have the same obligations as any other retailer.

youll get no cashback from Quidco as you haven't completed this online but involved o2
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)
  • Untrue. They haven't ordered yet so speaking with the merchant makes absolutely no difference. Even after an order it won't necessarily prevent the cashback; Quidco do that part all by themselves!

They probably don't know what quidco is.
Some companies, like e2save, osps, mobiles.co.uk etc do sell you a headset together with a contract. This companies do pay you a staggered 'cashback' that they usually call 'redemption'. This is different from quidco and in this case these companies are responsible for the phone, not O2: Cashback Guide for Dummies

Agree- this seems to be what the problem is, believe it or not most people (apart from those on here:money: don't know what quidco is!)
  • thanks for all the responses

    i am still slightly baffled:

if i was to upgrade through 02 (same deal) but without getting £90 cashback, i wouldnt need a PAC code

where if i go through quidco (90 cashback) i have to get a pac code even though i am staying with 02

    to me it defies logic
