Tips for drowned phone?

I have left it tucked up in a warm place overnight and all through today (tempted to stay tucked up myself this morning but hey ho!) and will keep it there until tomorrow morning. Fortunately the sim itself seems fine: I have put that back into the phone I was using before I bought this one.
andy88, you are right about the sticker on the battery. Have compared it with my son's phone, bought at the same time, and his is definitely a red stripe on a white background sticker, whereas mine is pinky-red all over. However I am too honest to do the 'inexplicably stopped working' routine, even if the battery ends up OK and I could swap them over.
veronarona, not insured, wasn't offered it but would only have taken it out if it had been free. We seem to be having a run of bad luck with phones lately, but until that started I'd had over 5 years of mobile phone use with no problems, so don't think it's worth paying for it. Mind you I'm not someone who pays a lot of money for phones!
Hairdryer, what's a hairdryer? Will get the desk lamp out later as suggested on the HowardForums tips if the warm place hasn't sorted it, may try it with my son's battery first.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

This does happen, my husband keeps his in his shirt pocket and has dropped it in the loo......thankfully, after it's been flushed..... on at least three occasions! What do men do in the bathroom? Each time, he's taken it apart and dried it out thoroughly and there has been no permanent damage.
Unfortunately last year my son fell in the sea with his (five week old) phone in his pocket....not realising that it needed to be dried out first, he switched it on and it died a death, beyond ressurection. Worth mentioning this to kids who may not know what to do?
Let us know if you get it sorted savvy_sue.

After 36 hours tucked up in a towel on a radiator (we don't have an airing cupboard and the towel was to stop it overheating!), the phone appears to be fine! I am SO happy and relieved, and grateful to you all but especially to GeoThermal for telling me to leave it at least 24 hours. Because otherwise I would have been wanting to test it out every five minutes and would probably have shorted it!
Hugs and kisses to you all!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I wouldn't have thought that drying it out would help if you drop it in the sea, as salt water is very corrosive - look what it does to cars. More likely to survive if you immediately swill it around in fresh water - after taking the battery out!Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
