Phone Stolen- calls made by thief, liability?
My brothers phone was stolen. He studpidly didn't inform orange straight away, instead waited four days. The thief called Bangladesh amongst other places and incurred 280 pounds worth of calls within the four day period. Orange admits that they know these calls were not made by the person who owns the phone, but states that the contract holder is still liable to pay for them. Is there anything you can do or is there any advice about how to avoid paying for it? If anyone knows of a way around paying that would be amazing!

I have worked for Tmobile before and since orange and them are the same now i can pretty much tell you unless you go through customer relations you have no chance even if you talk to a manager they will just say sorry we have a 24hr line to report this and say nothing sorry but thats how these things used to go down when i worked there

Your brother is responsible until he calls to advise his phone has been stolen. No way around it0

One of the main exclusions for Orange Care is unauthorised calls. Up until the point you report the phone as lost/stolen you are liable for all charges. Quite clearly stated in the Orange Care Terms and Conditions.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0
