You can try but this is how DD works, you build up some credit over the sumer to keep you going through the winter when it all evens out, if you take the cash and run expect them to put your DD up.

I am with Scottish Power and just called them up and asked for the amount in credit to be refunded and I got a cheque 4 days later, so I guess you can do that with EDF. Hope this helps

I was in quite a bit of credit with EDF as I had left my payments the same as my previous dearer supplier. I just sent them an email message via my online account stating how much of my credit I'd like paid back to me, within a few days in was in my bank account. I left myself a little in credit, as this pays for the higher winter bills.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Sounds like an urban myth. BG have a policy to pay back credit balances of over £100 when they re-assess at the end of the year.

How does anyone get to be £1000 in credit

Still another chance to knock BG heh!
  • Just imagine how much of our money the utility companies have crammed into their bank accounts by using these underhand methods of charging,it must run into tens of millions.A great way to get an intrest free loan, over estimate your customers usage for the year and charge them accordingly. However, my utility company wanted to charge me £30.00 pcm elec/gas dual fuel, (I live alone ) I bargained him down to £20.00 by DD
  • I SWITCHED FROM BG RECENTLY AND HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET MY DIRECT DEBT MONEY BACK FOR ABOUT 4 WEEKS ( £127 POUNDS) ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED SO REFUND SHOULD THEN BE ON THE WAY. MY WIFE HAS PHONED TWICE , EACH TIME TOLD (I WILL PUT IT TO THE ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT FOR YOU NOW.
AFTER WAITING SHE PHONED AGAIN ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE BUT WILL GET IT TO YOU WITHIN 5 DAYS.
5 DAYS LATER NOTHING SO I PHONED THEM (GETTING ANGRY NOW)TOLD ITS IN ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT HANDS (SORRY BUT THEY ARE VERY BUSY)
SO I HAVE GIVEN THEM FIVE MORE DAYS BEFORE I TAKE ACTION.
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF BG EMPOLYEES GET COMISSION FOR HOLDING ON TO OTHER PEOPLES MONEY?
YOU CAN ONLY CALL IT STEALING,I HAVE NOW CHANGED FROM DIRECT DEBT TO PAYING MY GAS QUARTERLY AND FITTED A WOOD BURNER.:
