We saw this in holiday in Tenerife, there was no heating for the tanks, no filtration either..... so there's no way my feet would be taking a dip where there was nothing to eat up the last person's warts but a few little fish.

It's not very fair on the fish either, must be very stressful for them.

Do you have to declare any infections / diseases? What if someone had something, had broken skin etc and infected someone??

At the shop in my local town you are unable to have it done if you have athletes foot, a verruca or anything like that.

Don't confuse this with a medically qualified chiropodist treating your feet! It's two completely different processes/effects! Your feet might be softer but not all the hard skin will go (certainly not if you usually need medical treatment to remove it!)

It's a fad, and a very useful way of parting suckers from their cash.

they have a facebook page so you can see if they are in your area.

I tried the Bristol one once, it was fun, again agree with another poster, didn't do that much for my hard skin, but its one of those things you need to do often to see any effect..

  • Definitely not trying this at home - think my piranha would be eating more than just the dead skin off my feet!

I've had my (non carnivorous) fish nibble at my hands (though probably not the same kind of fish) and it's a very gentle feeling.

  • I have recently seen a Groupon for a £10 fish pedicure at Rookery Manor, just outside Weston-Super-mare. I am very tempted! I'm trying to convince my boss we should go for a 'team day' (haha!).

This is a good article for people worried about the safety - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/ireland/article7086874.ece

I tried this yesterday in Birmingham and absolutely loved it. I found it so relaxing (had a foot massage afterwards as well) and the underneath of my feet and my heels feel much smoother today.
