Fish pedicure?

Just noticed a fish pedicure salon in town called Dr SpaFish.

Apparently there are loads of tiny toothless fish in a tank and you put your feet in, and the fish nibble and suck all the hard dead skin away from your feet leaving them soft and smooth.

It's quite cheap at £10 for a session...much cheaper than the chiropodist anyway. I'd love to have a go but I'm a bit squeamish!:o

Has anyone tried it?

Ooh, sounds lovely. I've got bad scarring on my feet...would that be a problem, do you think?

I've done this! It doesn't hurt, just tickles a bit, especially when the fish are trying to get between your toes! And they go all over your feet and ankles, not just where the hard skin bits are. I figured that they're hoovering up all the dead skin cells, which are all over!

I wouldn't say it's as good as regular proper pedicures, but my feet were lovely and soft afterwards :D It's definitely a good idea for a girly day out, I went with three friends for part of my hen party.

I had one on Thursday, funnily enough. It was incredibly tickly, so much so I nearly couldn;t carry on and I would;t have it done again. My hard skin was still there at the end, and my feet didn;t feeel that soft either - to be honest it was a tenner I could have spent better. Id rather go to the chiropodist. I think it's just a gimmick, personally.

I've done this at the trafford centre with a friend.
You have to soak your feet for a bit in a foot spa, to make sure you have no lotions etc on your feet, as this would kill the fish
then you put your feet in the tank and yes it is really ticklish at first, my friend was in fits of giggles, but you get used to it and at the end your feet do feel really soft, I was quite suprised.
Apparently you can have your hands done too!

I heard about one place, although I can't remember where it is, but you basically submerge your whole body in the tank... fishies all over!!

  • I agree with skintchick. I had one last week - it didn't really do much for my hard skin and my feet were soft afterwards but only because they had been submerged in water for 45 mins. I didn't find it ticklish either, actually it felt like constant pin pricks in my feet.

It was worth £10 though just for the experience, although next time I think I would get rid of the hard skin first with a pumice stone and see if that helps.

Worth checking Groupon before you book as they always have offers on fish pedicures.

I'm going with the girls from work for one of these next month, really looking forward to it. I'm so ticklish though so hope that doesn't spoil it. It's gotta be worth a try at least once.
