I've got no "get up & go" & had none for days so my house is a tip - any real ideas?

I started well by washing up and changing the washing round but then was interrupted by my mum turning up (earlier than usual) to collect my son to stay overnight coz it's half term and it's his turn.
He and his sis were playing upstairs taking no notice, OH was glued to computer taking no notice, my mum was talking 19 to dozen as always (love her to bits but wish she came with a remote control sometimes :D) while I was trying to sort out clothes and toys for him to take and slowing getting more and more anxious.
After my mum and son left I retired to bed for the afternoon to recover :o but there's always tomorrow :D
At least my son is not around to re-spread toys around that I've just picked up when I've turned my back for 2 mins! ;)
should have got them ALL involved;)

  • Sometimes, when I have been depressed, I found that doing tidying/cleaning in the ad breaks of my favourite tv programmes was enough to keep on top of things. You have a nice sit down while you watch your programme, then when the ad break starts, you know you have a few minutes to get something constructive done without even really noticing you've done it. I even do it now too if I have a load to do; it breaks things up into manageable chunks, and when your programme has finished, there's less to do.

Lists also help. I used to include things which would perhaps only take twenty seconds to do, just to boost the sense of achievement when ticking them off.

I've done a bit each day since then ;)

On Sunday I picked up alot of stuff in the lounge and put it in baskets and bags ready to take upstairs.
Yesterday I put alot of washing away that had been hanging around for ages :o:D
Today I tidied up my daughter's bedroom with her help.
Tomorrow I will be doing the same with my son :D
I've kept on top of pots and washing over the last few days too - I'll get there slowly but surely ;)

My biggest problem is keeping it like that once it's tidied up - that's why it's a major chore whenever it needs doing :o:o:o

Thanks to everyone inviting me to the Flylady thread but it's not for me ;) I've tried it before and found that I'm best doing my own thing - I know that it might sound like it but it's usually the way it is for me :D
