I've got no "get up & go" & had none for days so my house is a tip - any real ideas?

I suffer from depression so feel like this quite often but not for days and days at a time like this time
My house is an absolute tip - really! Hard to find floor space not covered with something the kids have got out
I think about getting started but just end up by an overwhelming urge to just go back to bed

You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an
"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs

Set a timer for 15 minutes and see how much you can get done in that time? I do that sometimes when it feels overwhelming. Then have a wee break for tea or something (or come on here - but set your timer so you don't end up for hours - guilty!
), then do it again for 15 minutes. It doesn't seem quite as daunting if you're doing it in short bursts - and it's surprising how much you can get done in 15 minutes.
Come back here with little updates.

I actually have before and after pictures on my computer. It's nice to look back on as sometimes you can forget how a room looks when tidy when it's in an upheaval.0

The flylady thread on Old Style Board is a very friendly place which is very helpful. I am a regular lurker and try and get the lists done (even if it's the minimum). It gives you goals to work to, which is helpful.Que Sera, Sera0

Hi
When I feel like that I write a short list that contains small jobs (put a washing on, do dishes etc). The feeling of scoring a task off the list helps me focus on the fact that I have done something, not on the fact that there are hundreds of things still to do.0 -
Tackle one area of the house at a time, and take a break in-between. The whole lot can seem overwhelming, but if you just concentrate on one job at once, feeling proud of each individual achievement, then you'll get more done.0

I do this as well! I put post it notes on my calendar on the kitchen wall. When my dh is at home he often helps me if he sees things written down, and we sometimes get into a race to see how quick we can get stuff crossed off the list. It's all mind games but if you're not a naturally motivated person (like me) then you need any little tricks that help. It might sound silly to some people, but if it helps, so what.

I find I have more motivation first thing in the morning. I have to do housework, chores and whatever first thing otherwise if I leave it I just can't be a$$ed!0
