Vodafone Prob - Are they in breach of contract

Have an ongoing problem with Vodafone since September 2010.

I cant withold my number, by using 141 or by changing the settings within my phone. Its an iphone 3gs and Vodafone dont seem interested in rectifying the problem.

I beleive that as I cant make calls and withold my number this renders my contract void. Surely if i call a company I have the right to "block" my number from showing?

Anyone any ideas what I can do, or what my rights are?

I'd have thought that unless it states in your contract or Voda's T&C's that they explicitly guarantee that as a service their not in breach.

They obviously can't be in breach of a contract point they don't offer?

141 is a BT thing surely? For GSM networks you would do #31# then the number then SEND.

That should work on any network that fully support GSM codes, but a lot of networks don't or only support a few. . .
  • So you've done the Settings>Phone> Show my caller ID and switched it off and it still doesn't work?

Have you tried restoring your phone, or trying the sim in another phone to see if the problem persists that way too?
  • H3G dont offer this at all ! 141 doesnt work any phone with them ! Its a feature which not all networks support. YOU cant cancel your contract because of that, you chose that phone therefore your fault

I'd have thought it was a problem with your phone more than anything... I have the 3GS too and am on Vodafone - As soon as I switched the little thingy over to not show my number it did exactly that. If it's not working on yours I'd say there is a software issue maybe somewhere... I'd call Apple support or take it in to an Apple store to have them look at it...

141 always used to work on mine (C902 on Voda) as far as I know, but I haven't used it in a while. Not sure you'll be able to get out of contract, I don't think I've ever seen them advertise it as a feature and I doubt they guarantee it in the contract. Read your contract, see if there is any mention of witholding your number.
