  • I'm afraid not, just changed the anti virus.
What sort figure should I be aiming for? Am whizzing between 3 ie windows plus task manager, previously that was becoming unbearable/impossible.

Depends on the machine, but after a boot before loading IE, 120MB is achievable on most machines, you've done the hard part, the other steps should take 10 minutes (apart from the malwarebytes scans which you can do at your leisure). Try step 8 onwards, then post a hijackthis log when you've finished

MSE can use all 256MB or more of your installed ram, which is probably why it was unbearable.

  • I took both readings with ie running, shall I check it again when ie is closed?

try steps 8,9,10,11 then reboot (which should be under a minute), and take a reading before loading IE

  • ok will do that
  • Mission accomplished (I think)
    After boot peak 191728
with ie running 222944 and phys mem available is 105-112k

I'm not sure if I messed up on the memclean - got the icon up after install (@60%) but after re boot its gone, I've gone back to folder but all I can find in there now is the uninstall icon. Hope that isn't a problem.

    Thank you a zillion times.

try redoing the cleanmem install, it sounds like it uninstalled somehow, as it will help keep your pc running smoothly.

post a hijackthis log for final advice, the link is in the guide.
