Just to update you folks (in case you thought you might be reading the post of a rich person...) that I am indeed only £15.50 better off. Should have been less loyal to my team and bet on Chelsea to win :D

Nothing much to update, done some reviews and that is about it for today x

My MSE trick of the week: Bought 3x£25 B&Q giftcards along with some essentials at MrT and used the helping hand coupon for £10 saving. Then we went around to B&Q to get stuff for over £100, received the 20% discount and paid with the giftcards. HTH someone. :D
    Mortgage: @ Feb. 2007: £133,200; Apr. 2011: £24,373; May 2011: £175,999; Jun 2013: ~£97K; Mar. 2014 £392,212.73; Dec. 2015: £327,051.77; Mar. 2016: ~£480K; Mar. 2017 £444,445.74

That would have been really helpful US... Yesterday lol! I never thought of doing that, an excellent trick! What is the helping hand voucher?

If you buy gift vouchers in the supermarkets for other shops do you get points? If you know you are going to spend X amount in the shop it would be worth it as unhappy shopper said with b&q

Helping hand voucher is the 'save £10 when you spend £80' vouchers given out by MrT for all purchases. Purchases of giftcards other than T ones count towards the conditional spend and you get 1 point per £4. I usually buy either National book tokens or WHSmiths GC as they make easy gifts for any age group. There is a new VISA GC, which I haven't seen in the shops so far. http://www.tesco.com/giftcard/branded-gift-cards.asp

    Hi, Everyone

have just about been managing to read the thread but no time or energy to post...so here's two weeks worth...just joking...here's the edited highlights (and low lights)

Took advantage of company travel to a course down south to visit my friend last weekend - instead of costing me £120 return train fare, it was only £19 return for the additional leg of the journey :T

Spent very little as my friend is also very frugal and cooked all meals except Saturday lunch - £12 for the whole weekend, not bad :T We visited Ely this time, and I didn't spend anything at all...(Ely has free parking too, just in case you want to visit..:rotfl:)

My friend also packed me off home with a hm sandwich for lunch on the train, a pile of magazines, a bottle of coke and half a cabbage :rotfl:

Have continued with the shop & scan and surveys, so building up the next lot of vouchers nicely - probably going to save them up to get some paint to refresh my spare bedroom (for free :money:). Ultimate aim is to refresh the whole (wee) house for free...:)

Have transferred all my bill money to a savings account and am gradually transferring it back as DDs become due - it'll be interesting to see how many pennies I get extra on my savings...

Not so MSE, my car sharer hasn't been around for car sharing for 3 weeks now. I'm really feeling the difference here . BUT I have managed to get my car to an avergae of 62.6 mpg (from 50 mpg when it was delivered), and am aiming to squeeze much more out of it. You probably don't want to get behind me on a single carriageway, though :rotfl:

To compensate for the lack of car sharing, I've parked my car up for the 3 days of this long weekend. Can't go anywhere without the car, but it's suited me to catch up on bits and pieces at home. Also has meant 3 no spend days too.

Was out for a meal on Friday night - free dessert included. They got confused and everyone at the table got the free dessert..

Always take hm lunches to work, and will spend some time this afternoon making some hm muesli for brekkies, and some tomato soup for later in the week when I run out of salad that needs using up.

Did a good store cupboard stock up shop, mostly at Lidl, which will last me ages. Still working my way through the bloomin freezer...latest estimate is November to be defrosting it! A slight exageration, but every time I cook something 4 portions go in the bloomin freezer...is it just me...?:rotfl:

Have sown some salad leaf seeds, and my living lettuce from Lidl a few weeks ago is regrowing...:T

Had a very thorough NHS dental checkup including xray, scale & polish, free sample toothpaste and wee bottle brush - all for £17.50 :A. Normally, am in and out in seconds, so really feel I got my money worth this time :rotfl:

As always, using the library for books.

Got the usual £5 Halifax reward thingymajig

I also had my Halifax ISA diaried for early April to move it, and had done so. I was impressed to get a letter from them advising that the bonus part of the interest is removed from 15/05 - wouldn't rely on them telling me though.

I'm currently about to get in touch with the West Brom about a bond I have with them. I can get access to my money at the end of May, but don't know how to...it's a carp interest rate now, so really important I get my money out asap after May and get it somewhere slightly better performing...will use some of it to fill up this year's ISA allowance though first.

And finally, will be reading my electricity meter on Wed in prep for them sending me a bill on Friday...I always pay the correct amount these days (used to pay on the estimate...stupid me!). I haven't had my heating on for months, though have been very tempted (even today is bloomin' freezing), so hope there will be some surplus to overpay a bit more this month. There'd better be...I'm not suffering cold for nuffink!

I haven't quite got up the nerve to charge up my elecy toothbrush in the office, though if I work any longer hours, I think it will be quite justified , but, of course, am doing the mobile phone...

I think that's enough for now. If you've read thus far, you're obviously having as boring and as frugal a bank holiday as wot I am :rotfl:

Keep up the good work everyone, I've been well impressed with the squeezing as much out of B&Q shenanigans, though I've no intention of wanting to spend £100 there myself, so not for me. Now, if anyone could come up with similar for Waitflower, I'd be there like a shot.:rotfl:

That is an exhaustive list you have put up there. :A

For waitflower, there is a code for £20 off wys £100 on their webpage. It might work with the free delivery + £10 £co cashback. :)

I've just googled waitflower wondering if I was missing something. Doh! :o feel suitably silly now :D

Sounds like you are doing brilliantly Lavender!

I'm eBaying at the moment. I'm low on motivation so keep checking my overpayment fund to remind me it needs more pennies.
