Call them and tell them you no longer wish to be marketed to, they will be able to take your name off their list of customers they can call. It may take a week or two for them to update everything, but they are legally bound to do so if you ask them.

Grandma - I usually tell them sternly when they call that I am recording the call and that they have dialed a restricted number. Ask them how they got the number and warn them its being traced, have never had a call back yet!! They either assume I a total nutter or get freaked by idea u tracing the call.

    HELLO!

Wow - have been away from OS so long I didnt realise you had all been rehomed - I left because I didnt like the arms. :(

Well its glorious sunshine here in south wales today and I am..........stuck indoors as benjamin has picked up some sort of tummy bug along with 3 of his rugby co stars! Oh should mention my son is now a sportsman at 6 years old as a rugby star (training on a monday, match on a sunday) and footballer (training thursday, match on a saturday) which is leaving mummy suitably shattered beign that she also has returned to work and now does a wednesday night 5- 10, and a sunday 3 - 10. Not to mention the added fun of three main birthdays coming up so attempting to money save and a almost crawling 9 month old! YES I said 9 MONTH old! Didn't that go bleeding quick!

Here is Minnie enjoying her food

    Picture008.jpg

As for recent months - all seems to be ok. Owen has had some good news about his eye and is now on every 6 month visits, my sister had her surgery and they successfully removed all the cells so she is on regular smear tests fro the foreseeable future. I had the all clear sign off after abnormal results so Im now free until 2014. The HV from hell has finally left us alone - which reminds me I should go to clinic at some point to see her though for a general check up and weigh in. Money has sort of lapsed though due to me restarting work but we are doign much better since our debt free help before christmas with my win.

    Which reminds me - winnings.
I have so far since I started comping in November won
    1. £5000 cash
    2. 37" LCD TV
    3. an XBOX 360
    4. a Kinect for the XBOX 360
    5. 2 Kinect Games
    6. 1 Nintendo DSi
    7. 2 Nintendo DSi games
    8. 2 front row tickets to Britains Got Talent Auditions
    9. Pocket Trivia Pursuit Game
    10. 2 giant moshi monsters teddies
    11. 2 small moshi monsters teddies
    12. 2 moshi monsters books
    13. 1 mini pack of moshlings
    14. 3 childrens books (series - fantasy thing cant remember)
    15. 1 flat stanley book
    16. 1 DVD - Despicable Me
    17. 1 22" LCD TV/DVD Combi
    18. 1 Dr Who Tardis mug with lid
    19. 1 Dr Who Projector Torch
    20. 1 Carbon Monoxide alarm

so all in all not bad for 5 months worth of competitions! So needless to say I am frequenting the competition boards at the minute. Plus as I am writing this the projector torch has just arrived so I have a happy little Benjamin being that hes off school poorly today.

Really do need to get a hang of finances again though as recent spending has gotten out of hand over Christmas and I seem to be putting weight back on again which I'm very unamused about. Even stupider really being that Owen's £750 mountain bike is sat in the spare room doing fudge all and has done for about 1yr+ - really think I should start making a point of an evening bike ride - plus it will help me de-stress a bit too I think.

Other than that myself and my little brood are all ok. Abby my sister si still convinced she is going to move to america to be with her USA boyfriend - yes the same one who dumped her when he found out she had cervical cancer - but she wont listen.

oh and still no sign of a house. :(

I hope to be back with you more now I know we have a nice new home here on the MSE OS boards!

    Morning (just) all!

Welcome back Sammy Kaye :grouphug: !
Well, having a slightly better day today so far so I have been pottering around and doing a few bits. Gave OH the mealplan, let him choose a week's worth of meals off it (since he will have to cook most of it) then sent him off with a shopping list this morning and he pretty much stuck to it! :j He also picked up over a kilo of cod loin reduced to £3 (this will do at least 5 dinners each) and a free-range chicken for £3 which has now been quartered and frozen. Also a pie and a quiche that were already marked down and which he got further reduced to 50p each after 'flirting' (his words not mine) with the sales assistant. I think he is finally learning the dark art of OS :T

I have put the spare duvet in the wash as I think today will be a good day to get it dry, once that is dry I will put the one from the bed in.

I am still struggling to do much though and I can't sit down for any length of time at all. I feel like a right drip lying around all the time though. OH is going sea fishing / visiting sister who is being induced tomorrow but my friends are popping round from time to time and I have a friendly neighbour a few doors down in an emergency.I want to be healthy again, right now please! I am trying not to be moany and impatient but I am finding it very difficult, especially because the weather is so good and there's so much I could be getting on with.

    G'morning GreyQueen

Anyways - date for diaries - Tuesday next week will see the biggest problem removed - ie Idiot Boy. So Monday evening next week is the big Positive Thinking Fest - beam good wishes in direction of GreyQueen shoebox in Provincial City then for us all...:)
    QUOTE]

:D Morning Ceridwen, the possession hearing is 12th but it's not a done deal if it just going on the antisocial behaviour case as the district judges can be such imbeciles and deride the evidence of the complianants as "subjective". This is why the H.O. is appending the ASB stuff to TOCD's case (arrears). If it is arrears still and he hasn't settled his account/ will settle it before 12th, the judge HAS to rule in the council's favour, so long as the case is procedurally correct (IB is an introductory tenant) . I have been waiting since last week for the H.O. to come back to me as to whether IB has paid up or not and what that means for the case.

I do know that the KillerShark is on annual leave this week and sick leave last week but that her department hands cases to a nominated officer (they rotate the duty) who is court officer and handles it all once they've been listed for court. I suppose it is possible that KS is the court officer at the moment but it's not really something I can stick my nose into. Frustratingly, I can get into any council rent account in the city in a few mouseclicks but mustn't do anything as unprofessional as snoop.

In theory, the judge could rule for immediate possession but this is seldom done. Standard is possession 14 days after the ruling, on rare cases the tenant could make representations to the judge that it would cause him "exceptional hardship" to get out in 14 days and the judge could extend to a maximum of 56 days. However, as an able-bodied single childless male it's highly improbable that he could successfully plead exceptional hardship.

:( If the little beggar doesn't go when he ought, it's off to court get a warrant of eviction. Two members of TOCD arrive at a pre-notified time with a locksmith and the Police attend if they believe there is liable to be a breach of the peace. They change the locks and will shepherd him outside if he's at home. Then they itemise the contents of the home and save everything reasonable (they'd not bother saving the milk from your fridge IYSWIM). The stuff gets removed (none too gently btw) to a storage facility by our contractor and as the final touch, TOCD sellotape 2 notices to the outside of the door. One will be a copy of their letter to the tenant citing the breaches of the tenancy agreement which led to the eviction, the other will be the official notice from TOCD explaining who to contact within 1 month to get his stuff (subject to paying the costs in removing and storing it) otherwise they can dispose of it legally however they see fit.

:) So, if you get evicted for rent arrears, the whole neighbourhood gets to know about it. He'll also have £100 court costs added to whatever he owes on the housing rent account.

:) The best that I can hope for is that he might be gone by the end of April, which will be 11 months after he came and started to spoil my life.

:D When there is news, expect to see it up here in bold type and we can break out the virtual champagne (and I can break out some cheap cava and celebrate discreetly away from the nieighbourhood).

;) One of these days, IB will wander into City Hall bleating about his housing situation and it's perfectly possible he'll come f-2-f with me. As per policy, we don't serve people we know, but it'll all be on file for the housing advisers to see. And, if he tips up in any other LA and tries to get housing, they'll contact Provincial City Council and his bad habits will follow him around forever. He's such a fool to behave like this. We own 20% of the homes in the city so it's not too clever to blot your record with us.

However, I am beyond sympathy. If he can't shack up with Idiot Girlfriend he can apply to the YMCA. If he won't abide by their rules they'll chuck him out and he can kip in the underpasses or the cemetaries for all I care.

I think its a bit late to worry about being unprofessional or is it only the DPA that stops you snooping and the fact that any trail you leave can be followed.

I truly hope that I am not in the same council area as you or perhaps you better hope that because if I thought you were I'd sure as hell report you.
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

Excuse me, but what is she supposed to have done that is so unprofessional? She clearly stated that she HAS NOT and WILL NOT snoop and that she WILL NOT handle the case if IB comes into the offices. Yeah, she'd like to be able to but hasn't. So I'm sorry, but what is your issue? The fact that she's admitted that she could access it but hasn't? The fact that she'd love to know what's going on but can't?

    What exactly would you report?

    Get off your high horse.

Just a note to say always check things - My DD is still at college age 19 and my CBenifit stopped when she turned 19 and I assumed that was right but on checking the website I found out that I was still entitled to it as she was in full time education. Result a lovely back payment.

To cbrown372: GreyQueen has acted in a very professional and responsible way - when it may have been far easier to exploit her position to it's fullest. If you had read back over the past few weeks/months you would know that. Please don't use that tone on this thread - we are a friendly and supportive bunch here.
:D Skint but happy with my lovely family :D

Grey Queen: I'm just going to pop round to Lidl and splash out on a £3.99 bottle of Prosecco. This will be chilled ready for the news on Tuesday which I truly hope will be of the good sort.

Sammy-Kaye: How adorably cute is your little angel Minnie! Thank you so much for her picture, her cheeky smile made me laugh out loud it was such a tonic.
