I buy Biotex is Asda, its usually on the top shelf, where the Colour Catchers etc. are. I think it's over a £1 for a box though.

Thanks ChocClare. I definitely need to take heed of this advice. I too struggle to find clothes on a budget (I think I've said before but I'm a size 22) - charity shops are VERY limited in large sizes.

The manager of our local Red Cross shop told me that the secret is going into the shop frequently because they have a fast turnover. I've found several things in the right (large) size and even the right colours, by popping in instead of passing by.

I'd agree with that, especially with larger and very small sizes. It's been the same in all the charity shops I've worked at, they go really quickly because these sizes don't appear as frequently as the size 12-14's.

Now i need some advice here - I want to buy a bottle of champagne for when we move but dont want to spend a fortune but have no idea what to look for (I personally prefer lambrusco - got no wine palate at all!!) so does anyone have suggestions for a not too expensive nice bottle ?
Lidl used to do a nice prosecco as well although I haven't tried it for a couple of years.

We love the Prosecco from Lidl's and it's on offer at £3.99 a bottle at the moment.:D

I must be the only one who clashes my shoes and tights :)

Now got visions of red shoes and purple tights...:rotfl:

I know that one of the ways I "show my age" is I'm still very aware of what colours are deemed to go with which...

Being <cough> a woman of a "certain age" I can recall my mother giving me a beauty book as a teenager that listed a suggested capsule wardrobe, said what colours went with what and what styles to wear when, etc.

Magazines of that era also made a point of telling readers which colours go together and how to work out what colours suit.

So - I've arrived at sorta midway "compromise position" of not wearing clashing colours together on the one hand and being aware of what styles don't work together - but I don't automatically bother myself to change my handbag to a different colour one if I change the "colours" I am going to wear that day most of the time. So - I've still got handbags in black, navy and brown - so that I always have a handbag in the appropriate colour to match whatever outfit I am wearing - but I'm usually lazy and just stick to using the same old handbag day in, day out regardless these days:o.

Must admit to being surprised by some current fashion magazines - where several clashing colours are often worn together at once...but I guess thats the fashion these days...and there are no rules set in stone saying that colours must match.....

Certainly - re charity shop pickings - there arent any "posh" charity shops hereabouts. They are all very "middle of the road" from what I can see - but there is a more expensive area to live in just a few miles away and they have a very classy/more expensive than charity shops (but still VERY good value compared to standard clothes shops) secondhand clothes agency and the "best" area in my location also has a "posh" secondhand clothes agency, which is also good value. So - might be worth peeps' while to check out posh secondhand clothes agencies.

EDIT: GreyQueen - just seen your comment re shoes...and I suspect theres a lot of truth in "As long as the shoes are reasonable quality - it doesnt matter so much what the rest of the outfit cost". Am now picturing most recently worn clothes of peeps I know in my leisuretime activities - and the "dress code" (such as it is......) boils down to VERY casual/downright "scruffy 'erb" and footwear doesnt even get cleaned very often....but a quick estimate of the price of everyone's footwear is that it probably comes in the £50-£100 a pair range (though its far from unusual to see that a couple of pairs of the footwear on show have holes in......LOL).

Good shoes are worth their price, nothing worse than cheap nasty shoes. Even when I'm dead skint I don't buy cheap shoes.

The vast majority of my clothes a high street clothes from charity shops - next, m&s etc all seem to be easy to pick up round here but I do buy very expensive shoes - but only in the sales or on ebay....and they really do last and most importantly can be repaired - which so many cheap shes can't. My fav manolos have been reheeled and resoled and will be til I die!!

Just been to Tesco for a few bits and they have Basmati rice 5kg bags on 3 for 2, which seemed really cheap so I have stocked up on rice and pasta too, OH not too pleased but at that price you cant refuse!! Did manage to bag some whoopsies too so a good trip in all, until I got to the petrol station and realised how much diesel has gone up:eek::eek::eek:.
