    Hello all,
Annie I am so sorry to hear your news, but at least you are safe. I am so impressed that you are able to count your many blessings at this difficult time. Hugs and prayers.

GQ I do not have the bright yellow ball - unfortunately 'coz I'd rather got used to it. However it is quite warm and our broccoli plants are sprouting up (or should that be broccolying up?) Butternut squash seeds bought and we're planting 12. Not sure if this is enough or too much. We can only manage 4 courgette plants and 3 cucumbers otherwise we get swamped with produce. All the potatoes are now planted :)

Annie I am very sorry to hear your news and hope that all the posistive things that are happening at the same time work out for you. You sound a very strong person , although I do not know you I would like to send you a virtual hug ((())) for being a truly insperational woman x

Its a bit chilly here today but the heating is staying off as its been used far more than I would like so far this year! Mardatha your energy costs make me go eeeeeeeek! I have managed to get my gas costs down to £25 p/m and my leccy £35 p/m...so am getting off pretty lightly!

I have the 3 valuations in on my house and there is only £25k between the lowest and highest???!!! Hmm I am not looking forward to sorting out the finances with my ex as I am worried he may back track on what he said last year -and has basically refused to talk to me about anything since.."hello" and "goodbye" is about as much as I get out of him. But he has told his solicitor that the split is amicable ,despite the fact that everything is ok as long as I dont try talk to him..? (where's that confused smiley when you need it!) .I am anticipating a frustrating few months. He has already lied to me about returning the divorce petition as he didnt..instead he waited about 8 weeks to get his solicitor to say he didnt really agree with it but would sign it if I didnt try claiming back costs. Due to a mistake by my solicitor it was in the letter that I was (going to claim costs) , but I never intended to claim costs from him. If he had just asked me instead of panicking that could have been sorted back in January.....but thats typical of him, he lies about things and then is convinsed its the truth. Oh the joy of dealing with ex's!! After 17 yrs of him not discussing things with me why am I suprised?

Hope everyone has a good saturday and whoever is holding that yellow orb hostage please release it back into the sky..my nose is getting cold :)

Just quickly posting that I had a good trip at the charity shop today and got a brand new king sized sheet for £3.49 and 4 new balls of 50% merino wool, chunky for 99p, also 6 items of clothing off the 3 for a £1 rail so pretty pleased, just off to wash them now. Also treated myself to a pot of tete a tete bulbs for £1 as they are so nice to see on the windowsill and I plant them out in the garden when they are finished so very MSE!

Lisls weekend offers were good this week, I got packs of mince for 99p and the olive oil was only £1.99 a bottle.

And wonderful about the LETS people - honestly, you hear so much carp about Breakdown Britain - especially from the likes of the Daily Fascist, which I wouldn't touch with a bargepole, but most of my residents get it, so great swathes of its headlines assault me every morning on the way to work - that it's brilliant to hear how people are still supportive and lovely. I have been putting off joining my LETS scheme - not in the sense of wondering whether I should, just that I haven't got round to it - and your post has made me think, yep, I should definitely ring the nice lady who emailed me to say would I like to come round and have a cup of tea and a chat about it. We live quite a long way from the nearest scheme, which is why I've been prevaricating, but I'll definitely go for it now. So thank you very much and do take care of yourselves :A

May I ask what is LETS? I have seen it mentioned a few times in a very positive light and am keen to find out about community schemes, folks working together for the greater good, etc.

    Cheers

I am terribly sorry to hear that you're suffering in the worst of ways. I cannot even begin to imagine how painful it must be to bear. I truly hope that you get all the support in the world from loved ones in the days ahead as you try to heal :(

Other people know more about it than I do, but it is hopefully explained best here. Hopefully there is one near you!

    Morning everyone

Its been a bit of a frightful few days here, I lost the baby due to complications and it feels like an atom bomb has gone off in this household..as an ex midwife I am now aware of the horrible raw pain some of my former patients experienced, its not until you have the reality of it hitting your own life can you fully empathise with how they felt., hopefully this will make me a more empathic person.
Montys devastated, as I am but we were lucky to have been hopeful for a few months..but like most things time will heal and we are fully aware of the gifts we have in our lives right now, this has been a real learning curve of how life happens whilst your planning other things...thing is to now take stock and revise our lives...least I have Montys young daughter in my life and for that Im most truley grateful.

The blokey that employs Monty on his estate has just announced that he is selling up but has given us the opportunity of buying this cottage and a good parcel of land to go with it, so this has focussed Montys mind on something other than what has happened, ever practical financially we could both just do it, place is really beautiful so were on the verge of emptying the bank accounts and purchasing this piece of our shared dream of self sufficiency and OStyle living..one door closes another opens into a different future that we had kinda planned on ..

Welshcamper so sorry to hear of your loss, my warmest hugs and thoughts to all that need them.. my local LETS group have been wonderful coming in and helping with the housework and cooking and looking after the youngster and just bieng my friend and comfort blanket to us both..I tulry couldnt wish for more lovley folk in my life..
In this journey of Moneysaving Ive come to appreciate the simple and most smallest of gestures, forget grand ones, a nice cuppa and a homemade biscuit and a friendly ear beats everything hands down.

Im away to fill our car with petrol, its top whack round here, locals have been moaning at my dad for closing down the petrol sales side of the garage, but it just wasnt financially viable anymore on the plus side they have one of the cheapest car repair/MOT places in the county, will they support it? no, they go off and get hammered elsewhere then come back for us to rectify the expensive repairs that have not been done properly ah well, least they know where we are after that lol...

This morning Im going to do a stock take of the freezer, list its contents and get meal planning and then get some concrete plans made as to how to paint the outside of this place on a tenner...luckily the local LETS are doing a paint swop session next week, have lots of half cans here and there and so has my dad so hopefully someone has a job lot of
white gloss hiding under there stairs,,,,

Love to you all...warm wishes to those that are having ups and downs at the moment,

    Annie56 Monty and Lucy xxxx

Annie thoughts with you I also lost a baby mid-term so know your pain, it does get easier, sounds like a great idea to buy the cottage and land and do your own thing with Monty & Lucy.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

    So we’re empty nesters.

    Woohoo.

I passed a logger chipping a tree that was being cut earlier on. We did a u turn and asked him if we could have it as we are literally up the road. He has just dropped off approximately a ton free of charge on our drive!
I gave him some of our eggs and wrote my name address and number on the box so that if he has any more local jobs, he can arrange to drop it off!!!!

If any of you guys need any chipped wood for gardens/allotments etc, keep your eyes peeled whilst driving locally. They ate happy to drop it off as it saves them the hassle of disposing of it themselves.
