Just had a follow-up thought to "cherchez la femme" and your earlier comments about him and his girlfriend giggling up there for ages the other day and unusual "house" noises - he hasnt moved the girlfriend in has he????

I know..I know...the places arent even big enough for one person - never mind a couple...but there ARE peeps who double-up even in shoeboxes....

If I were you - I'd keep a weathereye out between you and SuperGran to see if he has done precisely that. The "other eye" promptly goes off and looks up about "overcrowding" and checks out whether its illegal/against the Council rules/anything else you can think of in order to have the Council "throw the book" at him for cramming 2 people into a space that has been officially designated as "only for single occupancy".

Check it out...he might just have given you another "string to your bow" to get him out with....:D

Your own tenancy agreement must specify somewhere "one person only" and he must, presumably, have an identical one...

Annie, I'm thinking of you, and sending hugs. And keeping my fingers crossed that your plans work out and you get your cottage and little slice of OS heaven xxxxx

GQ - I think Ceridwen might be right - putting up a blind is a girlie thing! He's probably that stupid!

Catching up with H/W today, and continuing to clear the leaves from the back garden now the risk of frost is probably gone and my plants are out enough to survive without their leafy blanket :)

    Enjoy the sunshine everyone :)

Wow so much to read through, am quickly popping on to send huge hugs to annie and welshcamper too. having lost a child annie I can honestly say its the worst thing that has ever happened to me.

Its been chaos here this week having been inspected on Monday - they are sending someone else round this week too - am so not happy but am just trying to plough through.

Have made a start on prepping the house for when we leave and have taken out one cooker and returned cabinet in kitchen to place and taken the shelf in each of the boys room down and filled the holes. Painting next.

On a more exciting note - we are having a viewing with the kids of the house we are buying today - the first time they will have seen any house we are going to live in before we actually have the keys!!

My shopping this week has cost the total of £20 as we have loads of stuff in and I couldnt justify buying any more!! Have checked my energy usage and our bill since the beginning of Feb is £260 but have managed to drop our energy consumption substantially this week, OH has been at work so have not used the heating at all, and have reduced our electricity from the 27 units we use when he is here to just 15!!!

Annie, so sorry to hear your sad news - I lost a baby between my two and I can still remember just how devastated I was - and it must have been about seventeen years ago now. The funny thing is, I can't remember WHEN it was exactly at all - DH remembers, because he had a new company car delivered that day , but I have blocked it from my mind, I think. It does get better, honestly. :grouphug: As your signature says, you are so lucky to have Monty and Lucy - it only seems a minute ago that you were posting "I've met this man who looks like Monty Don" and going through all that carp with ex and floozy. Big hugs to you.

Brilliant news about the cottage :T

And wonderful about the LETS people - honestly, you hear so much carp about Breakdown Britain - especially from the likes of the Daily Fascist, which I wouldn't touch with a bargepole, but most of my residents get it, so great swathes of its headlines assault me every morning on the way to work - that it's brilliant to hear how people are still supportive and lovely. I have been putting off joining my LETS scheme - not in the sense of wondering whether I should, just that I haven't got round to it - and your post has made me think, yep, I should definitely ring the nice lady who emailed me to say would I like to come round and have a cup of tea and a chat about it. We live quite a long way from the nearest scheme, which is why I've been prevaricating, but I'll definitely go for it now. So thank you very much and do take care of yourselves :A

    Morning

Wanted to come on and send hugs to Annie and Welshcamper, my thoughts and prayers are with you both

Just been on the Sky website and booked film tickets for kiddies, Mum and me to see Megamind 3D for a grand total of £6, can't be bad, they are doing the offer at 65 cinew@orld's and there are 4 films to choose from - cheap excursion and a trip out during the school hols, its open to anyone with a sky account, all you have to do is click on rewards once you are on their site HTH someone with a trip out!!

We will also be visiting the swimming pool quite a bit as DS is joining a new school after Easter Hols and they have a swimming pool there so I need to get him used to the water and possibly able to swim a bit - he's 8 and I've really neglected him with regards to swimming, the problem is that lessons are soooooooo expensive and its a cost we just can't justify, shame really but somethings have to be put on the back burner sometimes!

Going to spend the day either doing housework or ironing, before Dad died in Feb I had managed [for the 1st time] to get into a good routine but that has seriously gone by the by and now its time to get this hovel back under control and make sure that there is clothing available especially underwear lol

If I manage to find a spare hour over the weekend I will be baking an Apple Cake and also sorting out the front and back garden, we planted potatoes out the front last year, didn't do to badly but it needs grassing now so thats a plan for the next couple of weeks and out the back I need to prepare a bed for the tomatoes to go in, although we have an allotment I want the tom's close to home so they can be well tended.

    Enough gabble for now

Hugs to all who want one, hope Gailey is ok

:) Ahh, just back from my trawl around the charity shops and feeling a bit perkier. It's still grey and trying to drizzle and I'm still knackered but I have decided that I'm living in a pit and need to spend some time on the old Domestic Engineering or I'll go a bit crazy (pause; would anyone notice?!:rotfl:) So, today I will alternate chores with the internet and reading and be rested for proper gardening session tomorrow.

Ceridwen, these homes are classified as having "two bed spaces" i.e. the bedroom will take a double bed, so a couple doesn't consitute over-crowding but a singleton-and-child or a couple-and-child would be. Of course, if he HAS moved her in (no evidence yet) and not declared it to the council tax department he'd be fraudulently claiming single occupancy discount...hmmm....we shall see. He's up there now, dragging stuff around...grrrr!

:o I was at the far end of Scruffy Street, in one of my favourite independant charity shops, when someone brought what we all thought was a Moulinex slow cooker in. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They only wanted a fiver and I spent several minutes thinking my ship had come in until closer examination of the manual revealed that it wasn't a slow cooker at all, it was a combined rice-cooker/ steamer. Sigh.........

:) However, I have spent two of our fine English pounds and have got a lovely Mother's Day card and a small seekersucker tablecloth in jolly colours. The cloth is square and I shall wash it, cut it into quarters, hem them and have 4 decent size napkins. My last set were made from unlined cotton curtains from a jumble sale (20p) and lasted years but the cotton is now rotten and going holey.

:D Hope everyone else has a good day and that someone has got custody of the bright yellow ball; me next! me next!

Oh Annie I am so sorry to hear that. You sound to be coping well and I hope that you can continue to appreciate the wonderful things you do have. What a year you have had, you must be a very strong person to still be standing! Good luck to you for everything else the world has to throw at you.

Fine here today, not as warm as it has been but I'm going to get out into the garden this afternoon to get my potatoes in amongst other garden jobs. If anyone has a Focus near them ours had a really good offer on compost, 4 50l bags of organic, peat free, recycled compost for a tenner.
