Redlady, I hope things go smoothly with your mortgage.

GQ, I hope your day is not too taxing. Lack of sleep is hellish. Here's hope your troubles with IB are over soon.

I did my first morning volunteering at the Edible landscape nursery. The people were really friendly. I nearly let shyness get the better of me and didn't go but I am so glad I did. There is a social evening on Saturday so I will meet more people then. I offered to bake a cake. I think I will make a hummingbird cake.

The disaster in Japan is never far from my mind. I can't even imagine how you deal with the situation.

:rotfl:Thanks laineyc. I am going a bit nutty myself as we have lots of loopy customers.

:D Have just this minute been told a joke by a grand old lady (who is actually a titled lady)

    Q. What do you get if you pour boiling water down a rabbit hole?

    A; Hot cross bunnies! :rotfl:

Honestly, I am so in the OS zone I started to think, hmm, lightly parboiled...could be a recipe in there.....:rotfl:

Mmmmmm wish I could join you. Sadly this week I have been diagnosed with gallstones. At the moment I am finding food quite repellent. :(

As a plus point, this means I might actually be able to lose some of the weight I have been meaning to lose for aaaaaages :D

And I must be saving on the shopping bill :D

Every cloud has a silver lining ........
SMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)

been a busy girl today - made yogurt and hummous and TA DA!!!!! They both turned out really nice. I've never quite managed to get the knack of making hummous but I think I've cracked it now. DD1 also asked for pate for her lunches and I remembered I had some chicken livers in the freezer. So made chicken liver pate and it's yum!

Also got a turkey drumstick and decided as soon as I got home to bone it out and get rid of all the sinews and tendons. It takes a while and I always leave it too late to do properly by the time I start cooking. It's done now and sitting in the fridge. (Just need to get DH to take a saw to the bone so I can fit it in my saucepan then I will make stock with the remains). So I will stuff it with a mushroom stuffing and tie it into a roll and roast it on Saturday - there's a Gordon Ramsay recipe which is seriously nice. It tastes fabulous and looks like a really expensive dinner party dish when it's sliced. And we'll have the chicken liver pate as a starter

All that little lot cost under £3. So feeling very smug and self satisfied. This is a sure sign that everything will go wrong later on and I will burn the supper
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

OOh never thought of boning a turkey leg! Thanks for that. Make a nice little joint for 2 when Ds moves out at the end of the month 0Yay - well :o too cos he is a fab son and no trouble, just that he has lots of washing and his bedroom is like mission control, eating up the electric.

Having a treat tomorrow and a friend is cutting my hair - my arthiritis is making it difficult for me to do it myself. Then I am off to buy patterns for Dgs's summer knits - got the yarn from Lidl ,well mum bought it me. Then Poundland to stock up on nibbles. Am going to enjoy an afternoon out. Giving up on worrying today cos the Doctor from DWP has just been re OH's benefits and she was very nice, so am hoping we will have a positive outcome. Well am off to bake more cakes and biscuits as the men here demolished then last night whilst Ds was doing his ironing and him and Oh were discussing football - 16 biscuits were hoovered up
