Talkiing of cooking rabbits,my granny and grandfather use to eat that quite a lot, but I never had the taste for it, I also remember to this day that a lot of people still buy rabbit to cook for their animals to eat, I dont like the smell of it when its cooking........
Perhaps im fussy but I dont like pidgeon meat either.....
Weather a lot better this week, weve had loads of sunshine and been able to get all the washing dried on the line, and Oh boy dont it smell so much better for the fresh air.....:j0 -
Maryb - thank you for the tips. I was aware of the cuts as I currently work in the public sector, and we will be looking at the North or West of the island. Thank you for the heads up on the fishmonger - OH was born in YarmouthI love the IOW, (I don't know whether it's just Portsmouth or the mainland in general but everything looks really grimy when you get off the ferry on the way back!), I hope all works out well for you
Weird - I thought I exactly that when I was walking back to the car from the ferry last night, but then again, that part of Pompey is a little bit grimy at the best of times :rotfl:My late OH was born and brought up on the Island and I spent many happy visits there when my late ma-in-law was alive with my OH and our children My DD and family and I go back on holiday fairly often and our annual trip to the Island is looked forward to by all the family .Newport is crammed with lots of shops and you have Tescos & sainsburys and M&S there .When my OH was a little boy he and his brother would go shooting for rabbits for the pot as their Mum was a very young widow of 28 with very little spare cashThey also went fishingand in the summer you can collect lots of 'free' berries and fruit if you know where to look for them My ma-in-law used to get us all up before dawn to go 'mushrooming' she was a canny lady who knew where the best ones grew. Its a wonderful way of life over there and if my DD and son-in-law could find work over there they would move tomorrow . The village folk do accept you even if you are 'grockles ' or as my ma-in-law called them 'oveners'
My husbands family goes back to my knowledge at least 10 generations and originated in Godshill then moved to Northwood.Northwood is a nice frindly place not too far from West Cowes and the villigers are very friendly.Good luck if you manage to move there you won't regret it
My OH also comes from a long line of caulkheads, and he says he's importing me to freshen up the gene pool! I have been there lots on holiday and to see him, but am really looking forward to exploring and making a lovely life there. It's sooooo lovely!lostinrates wrote: »I'm ashamed to say I've never been to the IoW but always wanted too. I don't even live impossibly far away. My favourite ever horse, an incredibly special person, came from the IoW.
Well, you are always welcome to come visit when I get there
Thank you to everyone for their lovely wishes xxx0 -
littlecal you don't need to lose any weight.
as for the ignore option, I love it, until my nose gets the better of me :rotl: but then I simply read and then reactivate the option without responding :AIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
