Lovely to hear from you again Annie Had wondered how you were keeping only the other day. FTM we too were in a 4 bed house and we needed to downsize (council as well) We waited and waited until we got what we wanted and we were offered several horrible areas and bungalow which were like a shoebox, with lots of repairs needing done, but in their opinion they were repaired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway we finally got a lovely wee 2 bed bungalow in a lovely area and the neighbours are nice and it is so peaceful and it was worth waiting on. We were determined though to hold on for a decent one and good area too. I hope you are offered a nice one one day soon.xx

LIR is it solely a woodburner ? Much better to get a multifuel burner if at all poss as it gives you a lot more scope.

Disagree there is not a truly mutifuel burner. I think they all have a fuel they are more suited to. Of course that does not mean you cannot use both but ONE works best.
Also a wood burner is for life!!! I would never buy over the internet my favorite place for buying most things. I did tons of research before hand I was thinking of buying over the internet but it had to be a brand name, one I can get parts for (the fire bricks tend to be odd shapes because of the secondary burn which make the burner more efficient). Either way noticed that buying from a shop put little onto the price.
Decided on one last bit of research and cycled 30 miles to a shop on an industrial estate which had a huge amount of different burners in stock. 1st choice before leaving was a beautiful little Aga last choice an ugly Scan (Scandinavian aesthetics IE a box on legs). Guess which I bought. The Aga dimensions turned out to be largest only and the insides lends itself more to coal i.e. not square at the back. The Scan dimensions were near exact and internally very square with a bigger opening lending itself to wood. I paid nearly twice as much for the Scan not something I would do without good reason. Also the Scan had a bigger top surface great for kettles.
What I am saying is do not buy a stove of any sort without seeing it first and speaking to the sales people. You can still buy from the internet. The shop also arranged for stove fitters to come round and give me quotes, these turned to be better than the others I tried.
Remember unlike a dog a stove really is for life!

I was actually answering another poster who said they wouldn't use terry nappies as towels only floor cloths, and my answer was to re-iterate that said nappies were as clean as they could possbily be before being used as towels.

Again not directly aimed at you more to the bleach addicts

It's hard to tell if you are adressing me or gillst but for the record I was responding tongue in cheek to gillst's post. :)

Thank God! The world bit by bit is getting more conspiracy theorist by the minute. I wonder if we are importing them from the US? The land of the conspiracy theorist.
