We have 3" of snow and it's not melting, more forecast for monday. Winter is very long nowadays ! We are wondering what is best in a time like now, of high inflation and rising prices. Is it better to scrimp and scrape and keep money -- or buy things we need now before prices go even higher ?0

*peeks head through door*
Ive just realised that I use star drops and made my first batch of twinks last night. Is that a good OS start?0 -
That's a good solid start Penny.
Mardatha, I don't know, I can't decide. If I could stockpile diesel I would say stockpile definitely, but I am not sure about food, I really struggle to decide. Besides which I don't really have the space for serious bulk buying. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -

Don't s'pose you'd want to know that it's glorious in Dorset, I'm sitting here with the patio door open in the sunshine with the washing drying on the linePiglet

I know what you mean about diesel, my job involves lots of driving and I claim back 12p a mile. But that's not covering the cost when city driving so am getting really worried. dh and I plan to dig some of our back garden up this year now the kids are older and dont really play out there any more and have a go at growing more than normal.
On the whole though, I am liking this simpler life.Cogito ergo sum. Google it you lazy sod !!0 -

Not in this part of Dorset it isn't.
Well, technically I'm in Hampshire, but I can SEE Dorset across the fields (and have even ventured over the border this morning to pick up DD from a sleepover) and it's one big cloud.
Which I have just been shovelling mulch in. Who needs aerobics videos? I need to go and lie down just wheeling barrows of the stuff down to the river bank. I am so unfit...0 -
Sorry I've been absent for a few days, and look what's happened!
Big hug to everyone who needs one (I haven't caught up yet). I've started applying for new jobs as my redundancy payment will be minimal, it seems silly to wait that out rather than take up a good opportunity should it arise.
I am planning on baking a bit today, and attempting (yet again) to crochet something that doesn't resemble a fat caterpillar
I hope some of the Arms folk come and visit us - they made us feel very welcome, but it was a bit too much for me0 -
