Travelodge website alert

Over the past three days I have attempted to book rooms on the Travelodge website. Each time after completing booking the site flagged up the booking as being not completed. I checked with my bank to see if there was a problem and they told me that no attempt had been made to take money from my account. The problem lay with Travelodge's website. No confirmation was given or booking reference for any on these non transactions.
Today I checked my bank account to find that my available funds were £319 less than they should have been. I contacted my bank to find that travelodge had told Visa to authorise deductions of £319 from my account ( 11 x £29 per room). They have already removed £29 and the rest is pending. Despite numerous attempts to contact travelodge I have had no success. They replies are automated and they have not rung me despite numerous requests.
Has anybody had a similar experience?
Can anybody help me with this problem?

  • Oh dear, i wonder if i will have the same problem then.

    I tried on Tuesday to book 2 rooms and when i clicked on pay now having entered all my card details the whole page froze, so i tried again and the same thing happened.

    I then decided to try and refresh the page and it took me to the verified by visa page and said my card was not registered for that please fill in the details so to speak.

    My credit card is definately registered for verified by visa so i just clicked out of it and thought that was it.

    I have checked my account and up until 10 mins ago it is ok, nothing from Travelodge is showing and there is nothing pending.

    Can i ask did you put in your verified by visa details? before you got the booking not completed message?
  • I booked today with American espress and got confirmation straightway. They dont charge for using AE and moeny will be taken once we arrive at the tl.

    Yes i had entered my card details before the screen said booking not completed. It took a day before the money was no longer available to me and two days for the first rogue payment to be taken
  • As soon as I entered my card details the screen read 'Booking not completed'.
  • I think i might be ok then as i didn't even get as far as putting in the letters from my verified by visa password.

    I do not like the new site though, i had nothing but trouble even adding rooms to my basket.

    I am certainly not going to try again. Will stick with a premier inn room for slightly more money.

    Wasted 2 hours and no booking. Tried 3 cards, all came up with DIFFERENT error messages and no booking! Have yet to see if cards are debited.

    Went through to the old site, but the room is showing unavailable there!! Went back to remove it from my basket and it still is unavailable.

    I rang the Lodge direct (no reply from CS, what a surprise) and they confirm there is no booking, they have one room left for my dates, but can't take my booking as it has to be completed through the website!

    I have now booked my first night with a 4 star hotel (same price as a late booking - in contrast to the early booking bonus at TL) and am now looking for similar for remaining nights.

    TL seem to be losing business, but are showing their usual amount of interest in CS.

    Apparently this is because there has been fraudulent use of Amex. Not charging a fee for Amex is new to TL and I wouldn't be surprised if it changes soon.

    ring your bank straightaway and ask for a chargeback and explain whats happened
  • I had this problem over the weekend (as you can see a couple of posts down!) . I emailed travelodge and they said that they dont have a problem with their site as noone else had complained. Eventually managed to book it through their 2010 site but have been constantly checking my bank to see if they are attempting to take the money and *touch wood* nothing looks like it is coming out other than the one i tried.. which is good as i put in my details about 5 times!.

    How did you find the direct number for the lodge. I am looking for one at euston.. i dont seem to have a booking but am now worried they are going to take out a huge amount of money that i simply dont have!
