I would start hinting at a free holiday at theirs and then see how they like their house being respected. It looks like they think they own him, and it seems he thinks that too. And unfortunately Emz gets the backwash from that.

But of course there is another quote which also comes to mind:
"Judge a man not by how he treats his equals, but by how he treats his inferiors." Or in this case who they think are their inferiors.

They simply haven't been brought up very well.

Thanks for the replies. I think ZTD is right, they haven't been brought up very well. I know that I was brought up extremely well. It would have been easy for my parents to have spoiled me, especially with the illness I have. But they didn't. OH has been extremely spoilt all through his life (he is an only child), and this has carried on into his mid 30s.

Also, my family are very close-knit (well, my mum's side anyway - my dad's side disowned me and my mum when I was born with a disease) and I see my aunts, uncles, gran, cousins etc an awful lot. They would do anything for me and vice versa.

On the other hand, OH's family are all very distant. They see each other once in a blue moon and they are constantly horrible about each other.

Thankfully, tomorrow they will be going home and I will get to see my loving family who are kind, respectful and don't look down on anyone.

Oh I see! Its about time your OH sarted to pay them back what he owes then. Thats a shame, its funny how different people are brought up. A few of my friends arent brought up with manners like your usual pleases and thank yous so I can understand that.

Im glad theyve gone home, back to your new bed and your life is back. Next time the word is no :rotfl:

I know, people who don't say a simple please and thank you really annoy me. If I hold a door open for someone and they just walk through, I always call 'thank you' or 'don't mention it' behind them. There is no excuse for being rude.

OH is going to see his parents again early next month. I think I will be busy that weekend :rotfl:.
