I was hoping Kalixaman is still about as wanted to check a couple of things. I am going to USA in 6 weeks and notice that Kalixa have now waived all charges - can you confirm that it really is free to use abroad except when making cash withdrawals?
Also, my travel agent told me that prepaid cards like Kalixa are not accepted in Vegas?? But in saying that he was trying to get me to take the travel agents pre paid card saying that one was accepted!!!!!!
I used Kalixa last year when i was in Vegas, and i had no problems using it there.0 -
Hi,
I've been reading this thread and thought I'd add a warning about Kalixa.
We sold our car and asked the buyer to pay into the Kalixa account at Barclays. He did this using Travellers Cheques, which the manager informed him were as good as cash.
That was on Friday 7th September in the morning.
I checked my Kalixa account later that day and no sign of the funds. Rang their call centre, and whilst they were very polite and as helpful as they could be, they could not resolve the problem.
The following Monday, some of the money appeared only to disappear again within one hour as Kalixa decided that Travellers Cheques are NOT cash and I'd have to wait the full 5 days.
So the matter was escalated to the Kalixa Complaints Dept in Vienna (this is an Austrian based outfit) and there things got worse.
Kalixa refused to expedite my credit. And kept repeating that the cheques would have to clear as per normal cheques.
I asked Kalixa to transfer some of my money to my Halifax bank as their delay had caused me to go into over-draft mode.
Kalixa demanded 'my papers please!", or put another wya send us your passport and bank statement for us to proceed.
Mush to my annoyance but desperate to receive my cash I complied. (Obeying orders, you understand).
Just had a reply from the soul-less Complaints squad telling me they have frozen my account forthwith whilst they decide the 'legality' of my request!!!!!
This was within 2 hours of crediting my account in full, then because I asked them to do a partial transfer to a real bank, they freeze my Kalixa account.
In every reply from the Over Lords at Kalixa they suggest I contact the Banking Ombudsman if I'm not happy with the process (as if goading me to do just that). I went to the Ombudsman site and found that they will indeed intervene - after 8 weeks!!
So there you have it - if it's an Olympic Marathon that you wish to run with hoops to encounter and ever increasing higher bars to clear, then 'go Kalixa' and knock yourself out!
I wondered what all the fuss was about the high handed and patronising attitude of baning. I can see now how it's tightened up on the little guys whilst the Casino Banking mob still ruin our economy with apparent freedom.
I can't wait to free myself from this Kalixa inspired bear-trap and report them to the Ombudsman asap, or at least within 88 weeks................0 -
Hi
Wanting a prepaid card for purchasing items on the net, I heard about the Kalixa card, and signed up, that was my first mistake, I usually check reviews about most things before buying, but who could guess things would go wrong with a prepaid card. I am unable to load the card using there Website, which is the main reason why i got the card. This is the message when trying to load the card from there Website:
Your load request was unfortunately not processed due to our security settings. Please select another loading method!
When I contacted them, I was told the same thing as the above message, then I asked about there security...and was told.
We regret to inform you that we are unable to provide any further information as to our internal security proceedures as this would compromise their security.
So looks like there own security has a mind of its own....Worrying!
Yet.. I can load the Kalixa card from the same account from my Internet Banking website, but that takes over a week to show on the Kalixa card, which is unacceptable. So I now have a Lebara prepaid card which so far is doing what it should with no problems, I hope this helps those looking for a card, or a card to avoid.0 -
Well after dozens of emails and very poor customer service I eventually found the CEO telephone number. I rang that and spoke with one of the Directors of Vincento Payment solutions who own Kalixa.
He was very helpful and personally chased up the Complaints Dept for Kalixa, who are based in Austria and are an agency outsourced by Kalixa (big mistake).
Upshot is he freed up my cash and got me some compo for all the hassle.
They still employ the Austrian agency staff for Customer complaints so for that reason alone - "You're fired!"
Haven't ditched the card yet as it's still better than no card - plus I still have my balance!
Kalixa's rules need to be read to be fair. There is a daily upload limit. A daily withdrawal limit. Plus a maximum balance limit. Unwittingly I exceeded the balance limit. Their process for resolving issues makes you feel like you suspected of trying to smuggle Naz.i gold out of Switzerland!!0 -
It's the best value Prepaid card available for overseas purchases and large overseas ATM withdrawals, as long as you top up via Bank Transfer and purchase the card via a cashback website. So still worthy of consideration.0

Trying to resolve problems with Kaliza is a joke.
We opened three accounts but one account never received the pin number so the card was never issued.
After weeks of getting nowhere with them to resolve the problem we requested that they close three cards and refund the money.
It took three months before they refunded two of the cards and we are STILL awaiting the return of our funds from the third card.

Like you, I only ever use my Kalixa card for online purchases and only load enough on the card for a particular purchase via my bank a couple of days before, and occasionally its actually loaded the next day.
But maybe this is the best way to use it - just for small ish online purchases?
Had my card over 18months and also had a few £5 bonuses for 'recommending a friend', which all helps.Auto Discharged on 26 June 2009BSC # 168

I sent two bank transfers (100 euro each) to load my Kalixa Pay card in 28 august and 2 september 2015. 100 euro were loaded instead of 200. Sending emails to customer care and having phone calls seem to be not sufficient. They keep asking for bank proof and I reply attaching it, each time, with identification number clearly visible.
They says that needs to investigate. Investigate what? Just check the bank statement and that's it. I committed No errors compiling the bank transfer, checked many times. Asked to my bank in Italy and they confirmed that the bank transfers were both successfully sent and no errors back.
I dunno what to do now. Can someone help me please? I'm not in UK, I'm in Italy.0 -
today i sent a request information to ERSTE Bank in Austria. They replied after 10 minutes saying that they are checking. My bank in italy confirmed today that the bank transfers were correctly executed.
New phone call to Kalixa support today. The gentle lady who answered promised to answer to my questions today.
I wait and I'll keep you informed.0 -
Finally my 100 euro credited to my Kalixa Pay Card. Since 2 september it's a huge delay but it's ok... I hope that next time that i send a bank transfer it will be loaded in regular times. I'll keep you informed as soon as the next transfers.0
