Are surveys seriously worth the time?

Options
Hello everyone I am a new money saving convert.

I have been trying out as many money saving ideas as possible!:D I've started on surveys, I used to be a member of lots of different survey sites, but gave up after not reaching the pay out points I gave it a year of trying but had nothing to show for it really.

I've started up again, luckily have some of my old points but again I'm finding the time in realation to the pay out is a bit rubbish.

Do any of you get pay-outs every month? How much time would you say you spend on average on these sites a month?

Thank you!:D
Mortgage at Highest:£145,000

  • Hi Little Miss,

I know what you mean about being on sites for ages without being able to actually get the cash you have been 'earning'!!! I seen a recommendation online for panelopinion and I have loved it ever since....
    http://www.panelopinion.co.uk/

Basically the surveys are really short, I get sent a few each week, you know how much the survey is worth before you complete it, and the best bit is that you can 'cash out' at £10 and then they send you a cheque whatever you have earned. So I definitely think its possible to earn something every month, ever thought about doing 'focus groups'? much better pay than surveys... Enjoy!
 2014: £20 voucher from SurveyFriends, £10 cash payout from Panel Opinion too and working towards more from Valued Opinions currently.
2013: £35 and £50 vouchers from SurveyFriends! More than £15 made from other paid surveys sites (Yougov, Panel Opinion, Valued Opinions, Pinecone, etc.) Happy so far!

Suveys are a complete waste of time half the time you dont qualify and they take up so much time and boring. Spend your time learning new skills like building a website etc.
  • It depends what you're looking for really - I find them useful because I can do them on and off - there are some weeks and even months when I can't do anything. You don't make much money, and some companies I avoid because they have too high a screenout rate etc, but I still find the extra few pounds useful (I'm up to £26 so far this year, and whilst it's not loads, it's still useful). I've found the best way to not get discouraged is to sign up to a combination of sites - if you have one or two with low payout thresholds, it keeps the enthusiasm going for the ones that don't pay out till £20!

Marteebies - re:PanelOpinion - I've only recently signed up with them and not got much so far. Is it better to fill out the profile stuff or leave it unfilled? I've only done bits of mine so far.
  • Theres a big list of survey sites here:

    I did the opening post.

As previously said, i like it because i can ignore it when i'm busy or make lots of pennies when i'm board.

Each site is personal choice, some you will like and some won't but this is a trial and error thing.

I can say i do about 25% of the surveys that come my way and cashed out £35 in jan with about £80 penidng for feb (although one is a £50 site and it's taken a year to get that, but worth it. the surveys may not be frequent but they are well paid).

I think it depends what you want the money for. I stash it all away and it pays for holidays/treats and Christmas.

Needs any help just pm me :D
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

That really is the key imho. The more sites you are signed up to the better - you kind of get a feeling about the ones that aren't so good and keep the ones that are. £20 isn't too bad - just getting a cheque that had a minimum of £50 cash out - I wonder how many people actually stick with it for that long!

Was that Yougov by any chance? It took me 4 years to get a payout from them (admittedly I'd sometimes not do surveys for months at a time), and I'd never have got that were it not for all the short polls during last year's General Election!

Totally aggree, find out how to build a website, review some products first hand and then send people to buy the reviewed product through an affiliate link. Get the commission. Spend! Happy Days!

Haha! No, it was New Vista actually - Yougov would fit the same bill tho...

  • They are definitely worth it, in my opinion. Sometime soon I really must sit down and go through all my sites, and work out exactly what I've earned so far - I seem to get a payment or voucher at least once a week so it's got to have added up loads since I started doing it over the years! I couldn't live off it alone but as a top up to my wages it's fantastic and really makes a difference.

I have a simple spreadsheet and work it out as a montly profit.

Just write what site you've requested a payout from and mark when you have it.

    Then have a running total
