Changing casette player to CD player in Renault Scenic (53 plate)
Hi, I was wondering if anyone with car knowledge could help me please. I have just bought a 53 plate Renault Megane Scenic and I would like to change the cassette player for a CD player, could anyone give me an idea of how much this would cost and is it easy to do?
Many thanks

You need to contact a Renault dealer and get them to give a fitted price, if you want to retain all functionality. There may be propriety models available, but it is unlikely they will be compatible with the display and steering wheel controls. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

The alternative is to have a CD auto-changer fitted. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Thank you, but I've already ruled out Renualt as an option - they charged me £15 for a lever/handle to adjust my seat on my clio which was missing when I bought that a few years ago so I dread to think what the cost of a CD player would be - definately out of my price range!0

If you dont want to do it your self, halfords is a good bet, some of there cd player comes with free fitting, i have had many steros fitted with them, without a problem
Depending on the stereo, and if its on offer or not i would guess about £75 - £100 (including fitting from halfords)
i only normally get them fitted by them if they come with free fitting, they are pretty each to do your self if your good at diy or electronics, but depending on the car, it might just slide out or it might be bolted on, this is why sometimes its a good idea to go with halfoards0 -
Thank you, I didn't realise Halfords did a fitting service so I will check them out for offers.
I'm not techie/DIY able in any way, shape or form but if I could pick up a CD player I'm sure my brother or one of his friends would be able to fit it.0 -
Thank you wealdroam...would I be better buying a Renault CD player..perhaps from a scrapyard in that case?0

It's a good place to start. You can compare it to your stereo and check the connections are the same. If your lucky they will be and you can simply unplug one and plug in the other.Thank you wealdroam...would I be better buying a Renault CD player..perhaps from a scrapyard in that case?0 -
My o,d "52 plate Scenic had the standard cassette/radio and a Pioneer 6 change CD player under the passengers seat, I think it was a later addition to the car and the steering stalk worked everything. So may be worth looking at these.0

Thanks so much for all the responses.
I've been in touch with the local scrapyard and they have a cd player which has come out of a 2004 scenic megane. They say I will need to phone Renault to get a code for it. They think it will allow me to still see the digital display and also use the steering wheel controls. The price is £25...does all this sound reasonable?0
